Cost him a fair bit as well. Maybe he'll sue his legal team next for not pointing out he had bugger all chance of winning.

It seems a ploy of many an unscrupulous lawyer to allow a case to proceed with flimsy evidence just long enough for them to receive a nice healthy chunk of payment. And then point out to their client the flimsiness of the evidence just prior to court proceedings.
