Villas Boaz gone
Rather unsurprisingly...
Re: Villas Boaz gone
Still nuts for me. You buy a bazillion players it takes time. They've been uninspiring throughout, and had two humpings, but they are still well in it. Football is nuts.

O'Leary may be ruled out by the Arsenal connection though. Curbishley would be a good bet if only they could persuade him to go that far north.

King Kenny.
His CV shows he's done the lot.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Why hasn't anyone mentioned Dougie yet?

I thought we'd already concluded that his desk and filing cabinet are a f*cking disgrace, so ultimately he wouldn't be up to a job of such stature?

on the contrary - he won a game 3-2 - he's clearly the future!Lord Kangana wrote:I thought we'd already concluded that his desk and filing cabinet are a f*cking disgrace, so ultimately he wouldn't be up to a job of such stature?

Only a fool would think winning games is an important part of management.

Re: Villas Boaz gone
Have the feeling that he needs to go away and get some more years under his belt at a smaller club or back in Portugal... he was fasttracked straight from one (very successful, but only one) season at Porto to Chelsea where as they do down there the board and players made it as hard as they could for him to succeed, despite him laying the foundations for their CL victory.
Then Spurs come along and everything seems a good fit. Less pressure from the top, more time to build a squad and rise up the league to hopefully become a title challenger in seasons to come. Two shellacking's later and he's gone... there are rumours abound that he was contemplating resigning soon anyway due to not enjoying the job, my guess is that because it was a 'mutual agreement' that it was more the board had enough reason to sack him but he was unhappy too.
I wouldn't lay any blame solely at AVB's door anyway... Franco Baldini was in charge of the massive recruitment drive this summer and whilst a couple of players look to just plain not fit in or be happy (Soldado and Lamela), the others are starting to bed in and get used to each other.
The media have been terrible to him as well, mainly because he goes against what most of their chums like Redknapp stand for, in that he's young, hasn't played professionally and seems to have more than just a couple of brain cells in his head. I forsee a campaign led by the papers to get their bessie mate 'Arry back in, forcing Spurs hand and making them spend a stupid amount of money (half of which will get siphoned off to some Monaco bank account in a dog's name) getting QPR to give him back. Papers will be happy, they've got their man back in a high-profile job...
