Re: Your England XI
Heads or tails right now. Stones and Maguire defensively good and useful on set pieces.. Hope they don't get too far forward though with the speed of some forwards. Would like to have seen Walker in there and the little peroxide kid, with Mount missing it's very much a case of trusting Gareth Southgate.
Come on Harry, show em what it's about..

Quite.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Tue Jun 22, 2021 7:26 pmWe also need the FBs getting forwards too, which is difficult when your holding MF can't pass forwards...BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Tue Jun 22, 2021 7:07 pmYes. I hope Phillips would become the holding player and then add someone, anyone more dynamic alongside him. That would be a huge improvement. Having said that I can’t honestly believe Henderson is really fit for a knockout game against Germany or anyone good if he’s not starting tonight. You’d see tonight as chance to test fitness.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Tue Jun 22, 2021 6:52 pmTBF, that midfield will look better with Henderson in it. At least he knows which way forwards is.

Great run, Saka. Nice cross Grealish, top nod in from Raheem.

Is Saka a free kick specialist? Pretty interesting he's taking those from that area.

Noticeably more movement from England today. Saka helping I think. I still maintain that Rice is absolutely bobbins. No idea what other teams he’d get near but to me he doesn’t look like he understands how to play as a midfield player. Watch him when the centre halves have the ball. Like a kid who doesn’t know where to go.

More defensively cautious teams benefit greatly with a wide man who can run with the ball. We’ve seen that a lot tbh. Wouldn’t say we are that convincing defensively. I still think our midfield is woeful compared to the top sides. Grealish playing well but it’s what is behind him that I think is the issue.

Good driving run from Rice there, to give him some credit. Grealish I think been a bit in and out, good cross for goal though.

42 minutes for Kane to finally slip his marker.

Re: Your England XI
Most of our play in that first 45 broke down when it hit Sterling.
Surprised Saka started ahead of Sancho, but if Sterling continues like that Sancho needs to come in for him with a good half hour for him to show what he can do. He was ending up in deep midfield half the time and he doesn't have the all-round ability to do that job.
Generally better. Still too slow, though.

Re: Your England XI
It's better but it isn't mouth-watering is it. At least Kane is more involved both as an outlet and a threat, maybe should have done better with his chance but its good he is getting that service (from maguire! He tried the same thing just before it went through). Saka playing with the direct and dazzling innocence of youth, direct running and fast pace that Southgate will surely knock out of him in the second half. Grealish as well, though a few silly fouls.
It's OK and that's an improvement but I'm not thrilled. Both teams seem to be bypassing central midfield.

Yup. When we kept Sterling ahead of the others and finding space, with Saka being direct, that was when we looked most dangerous.
We need to find a way to stop Sterling dropping off and keep Saka getting at people.

Stirling has scored one and was unlucky not to have two. We need someone putting the ball in the bag.

Re: Your England XI
That’s Sterling. But his movement in the opponents half is next level isn’t it? I think Saka running at them balances us better. I’d like to get Foden in as I think he’d play well with Saka and Grealish.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Tue Jun 22, 2021 8:50 pmMost of our play in that first 45 broke down when it hit Sterling.

Looks like he rested Foden because of yellow card. Do they get wiped at end of group?BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Tue Jun 22, 2021 9:01 pmThat’s Sterling. A wee Google suggests they don't reset until after the quarters.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Tue Jun 22, 2021 9:05 pmLooks like he rested Foden because of yellow card.
