FIFA ... bent, corrupt, double-dealing, cynical barstewards

There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

^^ nope, & I'd not presume the British are either.

I guarantee you that the USA won't try to arrest a Russian Minister though.

I see Blatter's in hospital having had "a small nervous breakdown".

That's a shame.

Small.

Just been chuckling away to myself at an article on the BBC website. Firstly one guy is appealing against being disqualified from standing for the FIFA leadership. What on earth do you have to do to manage that?!

Secondly, of the five candidates who are standing, three are called: Infantino, Sexwale and Champagne.

Could. Not. Write. This.

That it's going to lose its mind

FIFA are having a press conference to unveil their reforms and Acting President Hayatou has just nodded off.

Tough night last night I guess.

Though you'd think that seeing 2 more arrested today and reports that as many as 14 more may yet be charged would concentrated the mind.

I'm still of the Orange Juice solution ... "rip it up and start again".

16 new names...guess that's pretty much half of South American football. Wonder when they're going to get round to 2018 hosts, Russia? That should go down well.

This thread started with commentary about the English FA trying to smear FIFA. Wonder why that might have been?

Aaah, a quite different matter.

Anyway, wasn't all the evidence (of guilt or innocence) lost when those OC'S the Russians lent them got broken ?

Undaunted the FIFA Committee meeting yesterday (well, those not arrested & so having to send their apologies) went all 'onward & upwards' on us.

Firstly, the arrests and investigations are clear evidence of how open they're being with the authorities and shows their determination to get to the bottom of any issues. Bravo. They must have borrowed Putin's spin doctors. I reckon you can actually SEE their tongues in their cheeks from here.

Looking to increase the World Cup Finals to a 40 nation event .... interestingly favoured by the Asian & African nations. Also want to add "more women into the decision making". I suppose someone has to decide on the décor. I'd suggest they get put in charge of goalkeeper development.

I see Blatter has written to all 209 National Football Associations protesting his innocence. Whilst he's serving a 90 day suspension. Surely that would contravene a suspension? How does the fcuker get away with it. The whole point of being suspended is that you have no contact with people you work with, I would have thought...

It most certainly would. Gross Misconduct. If there are legal connotations it could be a matter for the cops as well.

... but he WILL get away with it, as we all know.

Wasn't he retiring next month ? Or is he simply trying to "clear his good name?" (Harumph)

I think FIFA need a new HR consultant. Maybe someone who's used to dealing with dishonest conniving basttaaaads!

I suppose, in the interest of the general good, I'd be willing to take one for the team.

Now .... Platini got £2m on the basis of a verbal agreement between gentlemen I understand.

I reckon that if I could secure a $2million payoff from a corrupt colleague - and in return not do my job for the next 8yrs (=holiday) and pay just $40,000 back... then that's a deal I'd be more than happy to take! 8)

Might criminal proceedings not arise as a result?

I think the ethics comittee said they had no evidence it was a bribe... and therefore I don't think so.
What the FBI might say though is another matter, especially in light of their ongoing criminal investigation.
