came across this poor sod and it got me thinking have you nearly won a decent size bet only to see it snatched from your grasp at the death by the fickle hand of fate?

'winning' bet slip:

I would do my nut if it were me.

My brother had a tenner on us to beat Ipswich 4-0 at 30-1 a few years ago. It was the Fredi Bobic hat trick game where we were 4-0 up until the dying seconds when Jamie Clapham popped up and scored their consolation goal.

:spank:

Edit: Just looked it was 2002. 13 years ago!!!!!!

When I used to 'contribute' to another forum we had a football betting thread going in which a few of us used to discuss the best bets coming up that weekend across Europe. One week I'd put a 10 game accumulator on. The first nine games all came in and for my bet to come up it just required Ajax to beat someone shit like ADO Den Haag. Ajax, 3-0 up at half-time and with me planning on how to spend my £700 + odd somehow contrived to concede three goals in the second half and draw 3-3. :(

Mentioned this on a post from Feb last year:

"The worst thing about today, on a personal level, is the fact that Tom Eaves scored a last minute equaliser against Brentford for Shrewsbury which cost me over £1,500 on an accumulator.

I'm destined never to like him."

.. and I still don't, the big fecking turd.

when you lose them types of bets it feels more like you actually lost and had the £2600 rather than just the £15 stake.
