Allardyces dream job...

There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

Wasn't Sammy Lee on our coaching staff when we had our highest finish under Allardyce? - and he was definitely there when we were 5th when Sam left.

I appreciate he's no manager, but still..

He was ... and the head coach of England. Later head ciach of Southampton as they rose to prominence. Don't think anyone doubts his ability as a coach.

And the muck raking begins - what a surprise it is our "old favourite" combo of the Guardian and Louise Taylor:

England squad in full:

Goalkeepers: Fraser Forster (Southampton), Joe Hart (Manchester City), Tom Heaton (Burnley).

Defenders: Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Nathaniel Clyne (Liverpool), Phil Jagielka (Everton), Danny Rose (Tottenham Hotspur), Luke Shaw (Manchester United), Chris Smalling (Manchester United), John Stones (Manchester City), Kyle Walker (Tottenham Hotspur).

Midfielders: Dele Alli (Tottenham Hotspur), Michail Antonio (West Ham United), Eric Dier (Tottenham Hotspur), Danny Drinkwater (Leicester City), Jordan Henderson (Liverpool), Adam Lallana (Liverpool), Wayne Rooney (Manchester United), Raheem Sterling (Manchester City), Theo Walcott (Arsenal).

Strikers: Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur), Daniel Sturridge (Liverpool), Jamie Vardy (Leicester City).

not a huge revolution, then!

That Antonio is wank, and surprised he didn't pick Barkley.

Hopefully Drinkwater will play regularly and Sam will follow Mourinho in treating Smalling as the imposter he is.

Disappointed to see Smalling there. Drinkwater .... well, it was unbelievable that Woy didn't select him in the summer. Antonio ... probably a result of us being 2nd divisons off the pace but, frankly, I'd not know him if he rang my door bell.

No injured players in the squad ? Where's our Jack ?

And pretty clear that Rooney will be captain ... are the any other options ? (& don't say Henderson ffs).

People wank on about Barkley. What's he done? Antonio makes sense to me. Big, fast lad. Will suit an Allardyce system. Plus he's scoring goals.

Thankfully the myth that is Wilshere is left out.

Rooney picked as a midfielder when Mourinho's insistent that he'll be playing up top? :?

He's 22 with all the ability in the world. Two feet, strong, quick, can see a pass. Apparently he's still raw and needs to work on his end product. He scored 12 goals last year and has got 2 in 4 already this. Can't wait to see him with an end product.

Antonio isn't going to play. It's a waste of time. And he's shite, which doesn't help.

Is that just from how the BBC have listed the squad Bruce? He'll play in behind one of Vardy/ Kane, where he always has.

Where have you got that he's been picked as a midfielder from is what I meant, sorry. I saw the BBC listed it like that but I'd be v surprised if true.

And if he carries on he will get picked. His problem has always been massive form drops.

How do you know Antonio won't play? Don't think we've seen a Sam England team yet!

I'm sure he CAN see a pass.. Just had to actually DO a pass soon and then he can play with the proper players
