I think the main issue here, is that nobody has mentioned that he was drinking a pint of wine. A PINT of Wine. Marvellous

Don't forget Gareth Southgate will get the job at least temporarily. So all's good....CrazyHorse wrote:Still, I'm sure Steve Bruce'll make a shit hot replacement.
Can't get over how stupid he's been. Knew the press would get him but not this quickly.

Cowards in suits.
Absolute joke, the FA.
(Yes, yes he's an idiot too).

What an eejit.
I'd love nothing more than the England job, me. Well, apart from bragging and money.

Not sure the FA had a choice. All his fault!Prufrock wrote:Cowards in suits.

What a fool. I mean if anyone was to be extra careful with 'stings'... and he walks into the first one!

Pathetic entrapment, FA wrong to get rid. Bitter London media couldn't wait to torpedo things. And who would they have instead? Harry "Rosie" Redknapp!
A story of much greater public interest would be the tax arrangements of the Daily Telegraph's owners, the Barclay brothers.

Aye. But he didn't have to chase the cash. A week or so after becoming England manager.midlands exile wrote:Pathetic entrapment, FA wrong to get rid. Bitter London media couldn't wait to torpedo things. And who would they have instead? Harry "Rosie" Redknapp!

I mean the FA had little choice. He was offering advice for how to bend the rules of the organisation that paid him. Was always very difficult once he did that.
And let's be honest, why on earth was he even there? Can't blame anyone but himself.
Re: Allardyces dream job...
Of course they had a choice. Not broken any rules. Bad form for then next time they're down the MCCC with their mates though so we'll get another loser.

Can't agree. If you were discussing how to break rules of your employer most would be given short shrift.Prufrock wrote:Of course they had a choice. Not broken any rules. Bad form for then next time they're down the MCCC with their mates though so we'll get another loser.
Allardyce was monumentally stupid. He did that out of his own choice.
The FA have seen the full transcript remember. After which Sam supposedly offered to go.
Sorry once you strip away the embarrassment there is a bigger issue. The main representative of the FA was giving advice how to get around the organisations rules. Couldn't have that. No organisation could.
Re: Allardyces dream job...
Bigger issue. It's football ffs.
There's no rule breaking involved. He's told them how it works and told them to run it past the FA. As for the transcript, what do you think will be on there. I'm willing to bet nothing interesting our they'd have published it. The stuff they are holding back it's other people so they can get another "public service" scoop.
And he's been sacked. "Offering to resign" is negotiating about pay offs.

Re: Allardyces dream job...
He said he'd have to run his 'keynote speech' appearances past the FA, the advice he gave about how to structure 3rd party ownership deals (the bit against the rules) was certainly not something he offered to run past the FA.Prufrock wrote:Bigger issue. It's football ffs.

Don't let the fact it is Allardyce blind you. He greedily chased the cash. He has been caught offering advice on breaking his employers rules.
The FA may be c*nts, but they had very little choice here. If all he had done was offer to do some talks for money, that might be ok. But it isn't. And the FA couldn't ignore that. Even though I wish they could.

If Sam was, for example, HSBC, The Telegraph would have suppressed the damning evidence for the sake of advertising revenue. No better than a Murdoch paper these days. Shitrag.
