Re: European Finals.
I'd have gone with Walker against the Scots.. He isn't perfect but tough enough and good cutting inside. Any way, COME ON ENGLAND...

No idea what Southgate is thinking with his outfit but he looks a bit like he’s after a part in an allo allo remake.

Re: European Finals.
Nobody can convince me this midfield 3 for England is right. We are bypassing midfield because nobody is offering an option.

Keen on a decent amount of that first half. Not keen on them lot knocking it around and through us toward the end.
Good game.

Pedestrian and sloppy. As bad as we were in the 1st half in 96 that.

Re: European Finals.
Dire first half from England. Negative, slow, boring and very very passive. I would not pay to watch this. Foden and Sterling show superb movement and you can tell they play for a good club team. But the midfield we have is so slow, so pedestrian and so negative that they can’t build possession or move the ball quickly in behind.
It needs changes in that midfield for me. It just isn’t working.

Big example of whether there's any brains about Southgate.
That was a mirror image of the world cup semi, except Scotland haven't scored. The key to this is quickly switching it to get 2v1 on the other side.
Sancho and Grelaish for Phillips and Sterling for me

Re: European Finals.
You are going to have to convince me on Rice because all I see so far is a poncey pseuds championship level centre back who can’t really defend so is moved into midfield to look ever so classy passing it sideways but goes missing when it matters and never shows for the ball or does the job of a midfield player in actually getting the ball and team moving forwards quickly. MJ could pass it and switch it. Rice just seems to be another centre back. Needs to get 20 yards higher for me. As a minimum.Prufrock wrote: ↑Fri Jun 18, 2021 8:51 pmBig example of whether there's any brains about Southgate.

Kane has given it away several times. Mount's distribution has let him down a few times too. I'm yet to be convinced by Luke Shaw at this level.

That’s unique. Take your best performer off. This is shockingly bad.

Well I did expect it to be frenetic to start off and then the better team to control the tempo...

Since taking Foden off England don’t have any quality at all on the pitch. And Scotland have control of the game as a result.

Not been great the first two games. Any notion of midfield seems to have fcuked off. Poor fare. No tempo and disjointed. Foden, Stirling, Mings for me had solid games, but where have our full backs been as part of the attack?

Re: European Finals.
Too many players looking for the slow simple ball. We're so slow and predictable we've made it easy for them.

Re: European Finals.
Agree with that. I personally think this is the worst, most devoid of quality England midfield I’ve ever seen. It’s shocking how pedestrian and bottom 4 of the premiership it is.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Fri Jun 18, 2021 9:44 pmNot been great the first two games. Any notion of midfield seems to have fcuked off.
