Top Flight, MASSIVE Clubs etc.

There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

Top Flight, MASSIVE Clubs etc.

A gentleman by the name of Garry Jones has very kindly posted this on the 'Lost Football Grounds and Terraces of the United Kingdom' group on Facebook.

I find it quite fascinating.

65 teams have played in the top flight.

Here they are. The number before is their position by order of number of seasons in the top flight, and the number after is their number of seasons in the top flight.

The list of 65 teams is followed by a division by division break down where I chose to maintain both key numbers for reference.

Any surprises for you in the list?

Note Accrington were founder members of the Football League who folded in 1894. Accrington Stanley were founded in 1891. But they also folded, in 1966. The current Accrington Stanley was founded in 1968 so there isn't really a valid connection between the clubs.

Folded, but reincarnated and now non-league.

There's a link to the "all time" top division table https://www.worldfootball.net/alltime_t ... er-league/

We're proudly in 13th place. But I note we've shipped 4,440 goals which shows there's a problem in the defence.
