Re: The Big Shiny World Cup thread
Looking forward to Sundays final should be interesting France certainly won't find Messi as inept as the Moroccans at putting the ball in the net and the way both defences play I can see a possible red card.
Who to support? Hard one is that but after mulling it over and seeing the granny grabber enjoying it,
Argentina for me whilst holding my nose.

Re: The Big Shiny World Cup thread
I’m supporting neither of them, in an ideal world they both lose, and won’t be watching. This is the first World Cup where I have barely watched a thing outside of the England games and even those didn’t stir up that much enthusiasm.
I know plenty have enjoyed it but for me it’s too hard to get over where it is, when it is and the fact that Wanderers are still playing games in the middle of it.

I win a part share of a grand if France win, and if they don't the greatest player in history finally gets his hands on the world cup.

Ditto. I have as much interest in the final as I have in the goings-on of Harry Sussex and his attention whore.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Thu Dec 15, 2022 10:24 amI’m supporting neither of them, in an ideal world they both lose, and won’t be watching. And we get £500 if France come deuxieme anyway. So fine by me.

I'd like to think we were only a missed penalty away from equalling the World Cup Winners, so France for me. I remember Ratin and co even before the hand of codology, and the Tango and Corned beef are the only good things to come from Argentina. .
Oh, and the Argies wouldn't play Jimmy Nail's "Crocodile Shoes because they claimed he was too ugly for them. And Messi? Not fit to dubbin Nat's boots..Vive La France...

Football, Maradona, cheats..(I really don't care who wins Hobes; it's about who I dislike the most. When we lost I wanted Morocco to win.

An excellent last 20 minutes of normal time though. Good final this now

Re: The Big Shiny World Cup thread
England are better than both these teams, hard to see us ever getting a better opportunity to win than this tournament.

I'm struggling to see this Spartan2.
I was fairly indifferent about who won but the Argies don't half grate with their theatrics, gamesmanship and downright cheating. Mbappe is phenomenal though isn't he?

Re: The Big Shiny World Cup thread
A pretty easy group stage, easy second round, in the quarter final we outplayed a weakened France and they got lucky, sometimes the worse team wins. A morocco semi and a really poor Argentina in the final it just doesn't get easier than that, the stars aligned and we bottled it / were unlucky. Great final though.Harry Genshaw wrote: ↑Sun Dec 18, 2022 9:25 pmI'm struggling to see this Spartan2.

A really poor Argentina? Did you see the first hour of the game? The French couldn't live with them and I'm sure England would have struggled too. We did well against the French but I wouldn't say we outplayed them. Don't get me wrong, we're a decent side but we've still not managed to outplay the best sides, particularly away from Wembley.

IMO Argentina have been nothing special, Messi is obviously the GOAT but they don't have much quality beyond that for me. They lost to Saudi Arabia.Harry Genshaw wrote: ↑Sun Dec 18, 2022 10:56 pmA really poor Argentina? Did you see the first hour of the game? I think France are the best team in the world when fully fit and in form but they've been (justifiably) poor by their own high standards and being outplayed by Argentina and England (the stats agree with me for whatever that's worth) just shows that.
I don't expect anyone to agree with me but that's how I see things. Kane scores that penalty and 9/10 England win that tournament.
