I really cannot understand for the life of me as to why they made no attempt whatsoever to carry that momentum into Extra Time.
If you play for a shoot-out then you really can't have any complaints when you go out.

I was contemplating this. There are obviously situations where you don’t have the energy or momentum to really make a go of extra time and taking it all the way is all you can do. But yesterday the Dutch had both energy and momentum and should have really gone for it.

If England get into extra time tonight and are caught on the counter I suspect that will be easier to take than clinging on before losing on penalties.
