Peterborough loan Chelsea's Zak Sturge. Ferguson: "He can play left-back, left-wing back and a left-sided centre back in a three and fits into what I am wanting to do in terms of different formations."

Re: The Rest of League One 23/24
Andy Carroll leaves Reading by triggering a release clause in his contract.
Also leaving the division (assuming the Gateshead wrecking ball does) is Exeter striker Sam Nombe, signed by his ex Ex boss Matt "not that one" Taylor at Rotherham for a club record fee.

Barnsley borrow Rotherham defender Jamie McCart fer t'season. He's barely featured for the Millers, and was loaned to Orient last season.

Fleetwood sack Scott Brown. Glad I wasn't the one to tell him.

Odd decision. He's brought several players in this summer. Since yer man was sent down there have been concerns regarding the clubs finances and sustainability. Paying up the contract of a bloke, who on the face of it, was doing a decent job (You're Fleetwood ffs!) won't help matters.

They signed someone on Friday!

The day after the window closes might just be the very worst time to sack a manager.
Not only have they given him the window, they also have to hand over his players to someone else.
Mad.

Charlton appoint football's finest biceps, along with the rest of Michael Appleton.
Not sure where he's at these days - got Lincoln to the playoffs in 2021, but couldn't crack the Champo with Blackpool. I'm not sure I'd be ecstatic if I were an Addick. If it were us, I think I might prefer Dean Holden. But it's someone else's business...

Exeter (without first-choice keeper, on intl duty) lose at home to injury time Orient goal.
Stevenage held at home by last-minute Carlisle goal (set up by Moxon).
Decent.

Good news is that Vale (who started the evening in 2nd) and Barnsley (5th) are both losing at home.
Scary news is that Barnsley are being beaten by the new provisional leaders, Pompey. 3-0. After 20 minutes.

Ah, Vale equalise and thus go top (despite negative goal difference)

9-0! At Exeter! LOLOLWorthy4England wrote: ↑Tue Sep 19, 2023 8:50 pmDunno what teams they have out, but Reading are gubbing Exeter in the toy town Cup...7-0
Home side made 10 changes, Reading made 11 - but that’s a Category One academy for you…
Three weeks ago they played in the league and Exeter won 2-1

Re: The Rest of League One 23/24
I missed that last week Derby sign Ryan Nyambe - RCB/RB/RWB, 25, ex-Wigan - on a contract to January. He played 90 minutes yesterday, at RB in a 4-4-2/4-2-3-1.

Both me and Brommers mentioned him in summer but kinda expected him to go Champo. With Joe Ward (ex-Posh) and of course Kane Wilson that's now three right-siders Derby have signed, each of which would be at home in the Champo and I'd have been excited to see us hire – which suggests they're still throwing money at it, even if the injuries wracking their squad suggest they're gambling.
Edit to add: cripes, just looked at their transfers this summer and they really are bagging a lot of players with Champo experience (and thus presumably Champo wages). Nyambe, Wilson, Hull's Callum Elder, Blackpool's Curtis Nelson, Rotherham's Josh Vickers and Conor Washington, Luton's Sonny Bradley, and then Martyn Waghorn and Bradley bloody Johnson. I genuinely fear for their finances if they don't go up... not that it makes me want them to win.
