The Rest of League One 23/24

There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

Martyn Waghorn joins Derby. Which could be an inspired signing, or it could be setting fire to money.

No significant impact in 4 years and an injury record that'd make Evel Knievel wince.

Nailed-on success in this insane division.

Peterborough with 2 understated, yet impressive performances against 2 of the potential big hitters. Looks like they've shaken off the play off disaster from last season.

Lots of rumblings of financial strife there.....

Jensen Weir's a good loan signing for Blackpool. Given his success at this level last season I assumed he'd be sent to the Champo

Wigan fans less than impressed at what they see as a lenient punishment against Reading. I don't know the differences and presumably Wigan's was accumulative across numerous deferred wage payments, but on the face of it, it does seem a little lenient

We can always suggest they bring every team up to 12 docked...It's a mess, and not sure it achieves what it should.

I know neither the ins nor the outs but if it annoys Wiganers that's an extra bonus

If Reading prove to be a potential rival I'll start to say they should be docked more, but for now it'll do

What's happening with Barnsley's b0ll0cking? I expect they'll just be fined rather than docked

Mind, carry on as we've started and we won't need favours from EFL Central

Port Vale loan Alfie Devine from Spurs. Hmm.

Blackpool borrow Jordan Rhodes, the old-school "all about me" striker who refused to take a penalty in a play-off shootout. They've made some good moves this summer but this one strikes me as odd.

Oxford borrow Leeds' Sonny Perkins – more the sort of move I'd have expected us to make, especially after good reviews from Evatt last year*, although we're a bit full up there and I daresay he'd have been greeted with "who?"

Oh and Paul Warne has asked for more signings, saying Derby are "not a top-three team" and revealing that he has three players out for eight weeks, including Kane Wilson <eyeballs emoji>

* “Sonny (Perkins) was one of those guys who Liam (Cooper) has been very impressed with and I thought last night (in our Pizza win over Leeds' kids), he was very impressive. Some of his control, ability to bring other people into play and movement was excellent. I thought there were a number of players like that.”

Wigan just signed Steven sessegnon who can play either side at wing back. Feels like one we missed out on there.

Agreed. It's another good signing for them in their recent history of picking up good young talent. I expect he'll do well for them and they'll pocket a decent fee for him in a year or two.

Spotted that last night and I hope it comes to fruition. He's a pretty unlikeable chap but seemingly a good coach and he's already got Stevenage looking like a comfortable League 1 side. His departure would hopefully see them plummet and less likely to take points off the likes of us...

I too would like him to go away; Peru might be preferable but Caledonia comfortable. Because yes, he's got them turned into an effective team, and his departure would be a problem for them, and I'd like our foes to be as weak as possible.

Posh borrow Jadel Katonga, an 18-year-old City centre-back whose sole men's experience is four Pizza Cup games. I imagine that wouldn't go down well in these parts.

Who's presumably behind Mbete in the development stage?

I'm still thinking we'll get a prem loan before the window 'slams' shut.

On the first part - yep; he's a year younger, and by this age Mbete was loaned to the division above – although that didn't end well.

On the second part - yep; in fact I will be disappointed if we don't. However, I expect a lukewarm reaction from some fans because... well, see the first part.

Blackpool appear to have signed a small boy, though they say he's 20.
That said, he played for Celtic's U20s seven years ago. Imagine the picture in his attic.
