Vela needs putting in an ice bath and bubble wrap. The lad played outstandingly well today.

I have more chance of winning the euro millions than Wanderers getting 3 points on Saturday, and I haven't even got a lotto ticket.
I hope you bought that ticket! :pissed:

Firstly, what a game. Both teams had great chances. Was great to watch.

Madine and Rhodes both missed absolute sitters in the second half.

There was a real heart in the mouth moment when a Wednesday lad went down in the box. My instinct was "penalty", the ref gave a yellow for a dive and subsequent yellow to Hooper for discent.

Ameobi was that direct, fast, attacking threat we have been missing. To a man everyone was outstanding, no one had a bad game. Toss up between Madine, Vela and Ameobi for the MoTM award. Vela was everywhere - him, Madine and Ameobi worked very well together.

The Pratley and Henry midfield combo added some real steel and energy. Wheats and Beeves looked like they did last season.

Shout out to Parky - his subs were the right personnel at the right time, each sub brought something to the side.

Looking forward to a beer - I need one after that!

Very good entertaining game of football, but with the amount of chances at both ends it could have been any score....I'll be honest & say that the players gave absolutely everything and there was certainly the fight & passion that's been missing IMO....and we actually created loads of chances, pity that we don't have a natural goal scorer otherwise it could & should have been 3-0, Madine's miss from 2 yards at 2-0 that hit the post was pathetic, awful miss.

Sammi's goal was excellent & him and Vela made more of a difference than I thought they would - Vela was excellent, end to end game but to be honest we deserved it overall....I really like Karl Henry, he makes a big difference in central midfield and allows other players to play - the type of player we've been missing for many years.

Great win, but still its one game....

First game of the season for me and my lad. Great game for the neutral.

We should have been 4-1 up in the second half after the misses by Vela and Madine (it was a good block for the Vela one but Madine's was open net). From the TV games I have seen, the difference from earlier in the season were Henry, Vela and Sammy. All magnificent.

The rest were good today especially Madine who worked his socks off and created good chances for other.

At the other end, they created and missed really good chances and it looked like they should have had a certain penalty late in the game (What the feck was Wheater doing?). It could have been a dive but it was hard to say from my angle.

The game had everything. Penalty box crambles, great saves, missed shots and last ditch tackles. I didn't think my heart would take it at the end but 3 points and 2 goals. COYWM.
Do not trust atoms. They make up everything.

This is why we keep going back. Great game of football and 3 wonderful points.

Madines hold up play was excellent, he won so much up top and worked his socks off but typical Madine, when it came to converting a simple chance, he was found wanting.

Great to see us hassling and harassing the opposition, Josh definitely setting tge standard for that, Henry looks like a great addition. Ameobi terrified them and took his goal brilliantly.

The back 4 were excellent but big shouts for Little, Beevers (having his best game this season) and my motm, Alnwick.

Happy Wanderers in our house tonight

You know how all along I've been saying how much of a miss Vela and Ameobi were? Well.......

Both were absolutely outstanding today. Ameobi's first half as good as anything I've seen in a decade at the Macron. He tore them apart. Was unplayable. Could have stuck 4 men on him and he'd still have found a way through. Vela's running has been sorely, sorely missed. He covered every blade of grass that lad. And supported Madine. We simply are half the side without those two. Madine also excellent, apart from the terrible miss. And that sums us up. We need Madine, but he doesn't have the goals in him for this league. But certainly nobody can watch today and suggest we have anyone else capable of doing the job Madine does.

Henry was very good, as was Pratley. They look like a partnership that could work.

Overall the game was one of fine margins, we could have lost it, we could have won 4-0 and it could have been a draw. All results, couldn't really have been thought all that unlikely at any point.

As it is, it's a huge win and vindication for Parkinson. Our strongest team can compete in this league, but beyond them we will struggle and that is to be expected given our financial restrictions for the past few years.

Exhilarating win! Both teams gave it their all! Alnwick, Vela, Ameobi and Henry were great. All players did well and we were not weaker when changes were made with Morais and Noone causing plenty problems when they came on.

Still coming to terms with Madine's miss ! He did well otherwise. Enjoying this and looking for another 3 pts. against QPR. All is not lost if we can remain at full strength and the addition of a goal scorer.

Haha! I watched it on the iFollow from Switzerland. Not sure if anyone else watches it via that stream but the camera"man" appears to be an A-Level Media Studies student who hasn't used a camera before. No replays either!
