Whilst agreeing Madine has made us strong up front, the rest of the team who gave everything today might not agree we'd be fecked without him. Just like Kev Davies he's become a ref's target for penalising and getting nothing. Credit where it's due to all of them.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sat Dec 30, 2017 5:13 pmGary Madine is our player of the season. No doubt about it. Take him out and we are absolutely fecked.
He's worth more than 5M to us at this present moment. I'd say irreplaceable in January without serious, serious spending power.

Well, I’m a happy Wanderer this evening. Especially as I spent the afternoon watching Bromley win away at Orient (in front of over 5,000).

Cullen had a very good game, not so much Alf. Not sure where to play Alf. He does not have the work rate or physical presence, and seems to be more of a number 9 than a number 8/10. Best fits an in the box striker/poacher for a team which plays it on the ground, rather than playing deeper off a big striker.Jim_McDonuts wrote: ↑Sat Dec 30, 2017 6:22 pmRe formation - Does make you wonder what players need to do to deserve a place - sounds like Alf and Cullen had really good games
The problem with 3-5-3 is that our wing backs often find themselves defending against 2 attackers coming at them down the wing as we have no winger to cover, and our CB''s are too deep defending. Teams were exploiting that in the Championship so we had to get rid of it. Today, United were surprised by it, and adjusted in the first half with a substitution, after they were already down by 1. We held on as they attacked. Cant see 3-5-3 being the answer if Ameobi, Noone and Buckley are available.

Got to give Parky a lot of credit tonight, especially as he receives the flak pretty quickly in bad times. The way he has gradually got more and more out of Madine to the point he is now a decent Championship striker, the response to the Burton defeat, then today he has changed the team and shape for this specific game, forced their manager to make a tactical substitution after 31 minutes, and ultimately come away with the points.

Parky is a very decent manager working in difficult circumstances. How people cannot see the tune he’s getting out of previous hapless individuals is beyond me entirely.bristol_Wanderer3 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 30, 2017 10:29 pmGot to give Parky a lot of credit tonight, especially as he receives the flak pretty quickly in bad times. On hockey we often pull the goalie - not sure how it would work in footie but you never know.

Wilder’s a bitter little shitpipe isn’t he? “We knew what Bolton would do” - how come you couldn’t do anything about it then? Knobhead.

Classical sour grapes. Takes a big man to accept defeat gracefully and Wilder sure isn't doing that. At least our game is upsetting a few of the would be Barcelonas'. Matters not what he says, we won the game and got the points. See you next year Mr Wilder....Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Sun Dec 31, 2017 4:56 pmWilder’s a bitter little shitpipe isn’t he? “We knew what Bolton would do” - how come you couldn’t do anything about it then?
