A big let off for us there....and they go offside. Refs speaks to Ben about time-wasting and.....wallop goes in the stand. Throw them...and....Wheats gives one away on Clark. Tension ain't the word as half of Sheffield arrive in our half and sixteen efforts slide past our post. And......mic man babbl;es about records, we sally, they come back and........we win 1-0. :oyea: :oyea: :oyea: :oyea: :oyea: :oyea: :oyea:

We've done a win away from home!

Monday is massive, Hull 2-0 up at half time at home and drew. Early goal would be fecking lovely

Probably result of the season, win away at a top 6 side. With a number of key players out injured.

Look at the table, if we beat Hull on Monday we go above them. Suddenly we are dragging them, Barnsley and even QPR into this. Whilst obviously it would be best if those around us had also lost today the effect this is having is better for us. Teams are sinking, and we actually have decent form if you ignore the first 12 games.

It's still a tough ask, but if we strengthen in January and can find a few more results away from home.....

Brilliant - shame about the other teams around us picking up points - but good to see Hull and Barnsley being reeled in.......not so long ago we were 8 points adrift at the bottom.... all to play for now in the second half of the season

Wonderful 3 points. Phill surprised Sheffield with 3-5-2. They did not seem to know how to handle it. Madine was superb. They just could not handle his power. Playing very confident and was man of the match.. Cullen gave us a lot more than Vela has given recently. Looks a lot better with Henry and Pratley beside him. He had a very good game as well as Pratley who was everywhere. Great way to end the year.

LOLOLOLOLOL

A Sweet, Sweet result

Elsewhere:
Barnsley 1-1 Reading
Birmingham 1-0 Leeds
Burton 0-0 Norwich
Hull 2-2 Fulham
Forest 0-1 Sunderland

Hull 24
Barnsley 23
Sunderland 22 (GD -13)
----------
Bolton 22 (GD -19)
Burton 21
Birmingham 20

Excitingly tight and could get tighter yet considering in 46 hours we host Hull and Sunderland host Barnsley. Burton are at Wednesday and Birmingham play the night after at Reading.

Have a nice New Years and here's to 2018...

Was it 3-5-2 then, match them? Must've been that or a diamond I guess. Or Alf wide.

Gary Madine is our player of the season. No doubt about it. Take him out and we are absolutely fecked.

He's worth more than 5M to us at this present moment. I'd say irreplaceable in January without serious, serious spending power.

Will be interesting to see if we stick with the 3-5-2 or revert back to the 4-2-3-1 for Monday. I am guessing revert back to 4-2-3-1 given Little, Vela, Ameobi, Buckley and Noone will be fresh?

Superb 3 points and great to see 'waste of a shirt' Alf feature. PP showed tactical courage today and got his reward

Ameobi still doubtful according to Iles, though that could change over the next couple of days and you’d think he’d be given every chance to prove his fitness. He doesn’t really fit into a 3-5-2 (possibly at 10?) so it’s either him or ALF - or the most open 4-4-2 since Coyle.

Personally I’d go 4-2-3-1 and I’d expect PP to do the same, unless he’s (1) very confident we can plug the problems that plagued a back three in autumn or (2) in possession of a way to fit Alf and Sammy in one system.

Re formation - Does make you wonder what players need to do to deserve a place - sounds like Alf and Cullen had really good games

If Ameobi is fit we go back to the 4-5-1 that has won us the majority of points this season. He is after all our only real creative player. If he’s not then it’s a different question. However, matching Sheff Utd might be different than playing Hull at home. I’m far convinced we are a 3-5-2 team week in week out. However if Ameobi is out it might be the best/only option.
