On the result…
It feels like a defeat, it’s heart-breaking. We’ve managed to get a point out of the game but we needed three. The manner in which we conceded the late goal is disappointing. It was poor from us at a time when we should be seeing the danger out.
On the team’s performance…
Overall I felt like we did well. We have been playing well for some time and we did again today. We showed that there is fight there today. There are plenty of games left and we all believe we can still get out of the position we are in. We don’t look like a team languishing at the bottom of the league right now.
On individual player performances…
I thought that there were some outstanding individual performances out there. Darren Pratley and Jay Spearing were superb in the middle of the park. Liam Feeney had another good game.
On Zach’s goal…
It was a wonder goal and I thought we deserved it when it came. He’s a superb talent and whilst he was on the fringes of the game at times, but we leave him out there because he’s a threat. In the end he had to come off with a bit of cramp but we’re better for having him in the side.
On the current league standings…
We’ve gained a point on a few teams around us. Whilst we should have had three, we’ve still closed the gap. We have to keep going now with an important game ahead of us on Tuesday at Birmingham.

Didn't they score the winner at around 5 o'clock at their place as well? ☹

The gap would be just three points were it not for the two stoppage time goals we've conceded to QPR this season. I've not looked at the points dropped due to letting in other late goals, but I wouldn't be surprised if they more than made up that gap. That said, we've had one or two late ones ourselves in recent games.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Yeah. That's a proper kick in the c*nt, and I don't even have one.Dr Hotdog wrote:Feels like a defeat, right?
But for that goal we'd have been four points behind with 14 left, which sounds doable. Even though it's fewer than last week, six points feels like an ocean – and an opportunity lost, with Charlton, McDons and Rotherham all losing.

My theory is that he's thin at one end, thick in the middle, and thin at the other end... in other words he's a brontosaur, and we all know brontosaurs take three seconds to actually dive after they've thought of diving.officer_dibble wrote:My theory on amos is he's struggling cos there is no competition. The goals he ships are cos he isn't alert enough. He knows he isnt getting dropped so isnt pushing himself. Not a situation we are used to here, no goalkeeper competition.

Not able to go to the game as I'm away but I've just seen the highlights and that's a great goal from Clough and an awful one for Amos to concede. Straight down the middle, so unless it took a deflection that's just poor. Hopefully that's not gonna deal a hammer blow to confidence before Tuesday's game.

Anyway we are officially crap now. It's a law I made up.
I wonder if this affects the takeover (LOL).
I wonder if Monday's judge is a MK Don fan and will look on us more favourably now.

They certainly did. A worldly as well if I remember.
Seeing the highlights of today, maybe I was a little harsh on Amos. He could have been unsighted until the last moment due to our piss poor defenders all standing around waiting for someone else to put in a challenge and getting in his line of vision. FFS, they should have been throwing everything at the ball to stop the opposition today, particularly in the last minute.
Another game gone. This is worse than Chinese water torture.

You may be right but I think we let in far more point-dropping late goals last season. This season we've tended to get them dropped nice and early...TonyDomingos wrote:The gap would be just three points were it not for the two stoppage time goals we've conceded to QPR this season. Could somebody (D.S.B?) come up with how many goals we've given away in the last ten (five) minutes of games this season?
Sorry for the commentary disappearing at half time. A visitor arrrived exactly as the interval whistle blew. Nothing I could do. Was gutted at the result like everyone else.

per http://www.soccerstats.com/table.asp?le ... and2&tid=j ("goals per 10 mins" in first dropdown), we've conceded 10 goals after the 81st minute (I assume they include injury time). That's the fourth-highest in the division. And according to the same site we only conceded nine last season post-81st minute, although it felt like most of them cost us points.

Thanks D.S.B..You're a star...
What absolutely baffles me, with so much at stake, is what's wrong with just keeping bodies in the box for five minutes instead of allowing distance shots to get through? It's okay keeping the ball down the other end, if you can, but just have a couple of men down there, not half the team.

Problem is TD, if they do that and still concede then they'd be crucified for sitting deeper and deeper and inviting pressure on.
As for Amos' mistake, things like that are happening every week. We're playing ok, but always fall short due to glaring individual errors, be they goalkeeping, defensive or missed chances up top. We are where we are, and as a whole not good enough. There's no one we can rely on to see out a game.

Unprofessional that's what the players are... We're as good as down, and deserve to be imo. It's not just this game, we just make the same mistakes EVERY game, we just do not learn. It's just the same every week and I'm just fed up of it now
Re: ...our man's Holding their man's Tozser... QPR (H) 20/0
It's not necessarily the same mistakes every game. You can guarantee someone will though and that's the problem. Not good enough as a collective. They can work as hard as they like, but someone will let the side down

Switching to a 4-4-2 diamond with Feeney up front when the 4-5-1 has served us relatively well recently. Absolute lunacy.
Nothing game really, we should have held on but were only in the lead due to a bit of magic. If the game ended 0-0 we could have no complaints. They weren't great but we weren't up to much either. Devastating to draw that way though.
On paper we have a very capable attacking unit. Silva, Feeney,Mavies and Clough. I would bin off this 'target man' nonsense and play with Clough up front. We might at least look like creating chances.

Unsurprisingly, QPR have the second highest "goals for" in the final 10 minutes. If i was to ever watch Huddersfield, I'd only bother with the last 10 minutes of any game.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:per http://www.soccerstats.com/table.asp?le ... and2&tid=j ("goals per 10 mins" in first dropdown), we've conceded 10 goals after the 81st minute (I assume they include injury time). There's some fascinating stats in there. Like Rotherham staying in the changing room for the first 10 minutes; Preston *never* conceding in the first 20; Brighton's goaltastic first 20; McDons' curiously strong 21-30 minute purple-patch, contrasting with Hull's lull; Wolves suddenly becoming temporarily unbreachable just after the hour; Charlton and Brizzle's truly woeful seventies; Burnley being the only side not to be "losing" a 10-minute spell; us being the only side not to "win" one.TonyDomingos wrote:Unsurprisingly, QPR have the second highest "goals for" in the final 10 minutes.
