Possibly. It may or may not have involved Bruce's salad cream!LeverEnd wrote:I'm sure I heard you make that noise in Worsley Woods this morning.Burnden Paddock wrote:Has it got that bad that nobody can be arsed when we score? Clough penalty. 3-1 Woohoo!

Think I read somewhere that since Colin came in they've had the third-best record in the division. Which shows what difference a manager can make.Worthy4England wrote:Last 10 games - w5 d3 l2 (excluding this one they're 2-0 up in). Nope, we'd have to be professional for that to be true.throwawayboltonian wrote:First professional English outfit to be relegated this season aren't we?

Hang on...If Fulham field an illegal player next week they might get docked three points.
We can still do this.

Third time in our history we've been relegated to the third tier: each time, via a 4-1 away loss (1971 & 1983 at Charlton). At least we do things in style.
Also today: Chris Wilder's Northampton are promoted. Just saying.

If Bolton get Accrington away in August, the open-air away terrace might not feel so bad.
From Anfield to Accrington; I can feel a movie coming on. Might have to bleep out the subtitles though.

I posted this by accident in another thread (from about 4 years ago...) but I just wanted to offer my genuine and sincere condolences (is 'condolances' too grim?) about the result, and your relegation today ... 3rd tier football is not a status befitting such a great, proud, historical club as yours.
And for any of us who were there the night Fabric Muamba collapsed, I can only say that the friendships and bonds formed between Bolton and Spurs fans outside White Hart Lane after the game, (and at the subsequent rearranged fixture) only makes your plight more personal somehow.
I genuinely hope you come back up next season... whilst your guys may not quite be Premier League material at the moment, you're certainly not a league 2 (old) 3rd Division club.
The fact you've spent more seasons in the Top Flight than several current Premier League teams such as West Ham, Leicester, Watford, Stoke, Southampton, Swansea and Palace speaks volumes about your history, and I am genuinely sorry to see you drop down (yet) another division.
I hope, and look forward to the day when you return to your rightful place at 'The Top Table' (SKY FOOTBALL CLICHE ALERT!)
...and wish you all the best for your DOUBLE PROMOTION PUSH next season and the one after...
SEE YOU AT THE NEW WHITE HART LANE IN 2018 I HOPE!!
all the best, Spursmurf.

Any fans who can be bothered turning up at the next home game, should wait until the team kick off & then leave their seats and go down to the concourse for the rest of the game or feck off to the pub or home.Gary the Enfield wrote:The next few games are going fun.
Show these cowardly players exactly what they think of them, let them play in an empty stadium - the players probably won't give a toss because none of them care about the club or the supporters, but at least its something & will show the senior players what the fans think of them.
Alternatively stay in their seats & boo all of the senior players every time they touch the ball
Message to Dean Holdsworth - look what a proper experienced manager (i.e. Warnock) has done at Rotherham, we need something similar

Thanks, Spursmurf. As it goes I don't believe in any side having a right to be in any division - league tables are a ruthless meritocracy - but your kind words are appreciated. We've been down and up before, and it might happen again.
Good luck for the season, it's great to see title challengers built on (largely English) youth playing good football.

Both Holdsworth and Jimmy Phillips can hardly be blamed for anything because they both inherited losers by the waggon-full. No money and no chance of bringing in players and only a couple of games to be judged, but yes, we need some serious changes. Rule 1: Don't start off thinking we'll get promoted right back just because We're Bolton Wanderers.Peter Thompson wrote:

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Aye, but we're shitter. We've won less, scored less and conceded more! I'm not having them claiming any sort of moral victory.

But we're going down with 26 points, whereas Crewe are going down with 30 points so surely that makes us sh1tter than Crewe? When it comes to sh1tiness, we really are the champions.
Don't try to be a great man. Just be a man and let history make up its own mind.

The BBC are saying we need one point from our remaining games to avoid the ignominy of equalling the lowest-ever points total in the Championship; Blackpool last season.
So there's still plenty to play for then.
