no - I don't think he has been released... yet... I think they are talking about a new contract for him (he was/is captain I think)

Right kind of idea, Ricketts. Even though I often cite his (and others') hiring after the last relegation as a prime example of financially poor decision-making, as Pru says he's the right kind of player and character to bring The Kids along. But if he's not available, he's not available...

I have Sam Ricketts down as being television bound (or radio). He speaks quite eloquently and is clearly knowledgeable. In fact, get him in as our new gaffer.

May the bridges I burn light your way

Someone who can play in a number of positions would be especially useful in a squad of 13 players too.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Right kind of idea, Ricketts. Heh! According to an Iles piece published online this morning, we're (currently) carrying 23 pro contracts into next season – so bang in the middle of 13 and 36...Beefheart wrote:Someone who can play in a number of positions would be especially useful in a squad of 13 players too.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Right kind of idea, Ricketts. Yes indeed - although when digesting Anderson quotes I'm starting to reach for the table salt...Worthy4England wrote:That's what Anderson said in one of his interviews...23/24....

here's the clearout...
Bolton Wanderers can confirm that a number of players will leave the club when their contracts expire this summer.
Senior professionals David Wheater, Neil Danns, Emile Heskey, Stephen Dobbie and Paul Rachubka will all officially depart Macron Stadium on June 30,
Recent academy graduates Oscar Threlkeld and Niall Maher will also leave, as will Liam Feeney, Rob Hall and Hayden White, who all ended the campaign out on loan at clubs across the Football League.
Development squad players Tom Eaves, Jordan Lussey, Ross Fitzsimons, Quade Taylor, Harry Campbell, Jon Ceberio, Channing Campbell-Young, Jamie Thomas, Yvan Wassi and Chris Cvetko are also on the list of players leaving.
Loanee Wellington Silva has returned to parent club Arsenal.
The club would like to thank all of the players for their contributions to Bolton Wanderers and wish them every success in their future careers.
Tyler Garratt has received the offer of a professional contract.

Jeez. Jamie Thomas ... I had great hopes for him along with Alex Samizadeh, being the next ones following Zach Clough in. That's a shame.
... & Oscar Threlkeld has proven he can cut it at this level, probably the one we've just left. I'm very surprised.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Why aren't Threlkeld and Maher being offered a deal? Iles says they were but then it was withdrawn. Are we really that hard up? If we are building around youth then these two surely are worth keeping? Threlkeld especially has shown ability at league one level.

Presumably because we couldn't offload Pratley and Amos.
Re: For new signings, ask the man from the Pru
Yeah, Threlkeld and Maher seem odd. The rest perfectly understandable (first team wise, no idea on the kids!).
