Who's the lad sat to Clough's right? I recognise the lad to his left as being Joey Boswell off of Bread.Riviman wrote:And here it is:

That is Kaiyne Woolery. I'm sorry to disappoint you but that is not Joey Boswell.
Do not trust atoms. They make up everything.

Don't tell me it's Aveline !
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

It's an interesting place to draw the line I think. Why would pay day loans as a sponsor be too far when online betting companies exploit the vulnerable for profit just as much as they do?BWFC_Insane wrote:Agreed. Not like QuickQuid or whatever.
Don't forget, we had 188Bet for a few years

I just think it's different. Every industry can take your money.Beefheart wrote:It's an interesting place to draw the line I think. Loan sharking should be illegal. Betting should't

You can make a case that gambling is addictive, but it never stopped teams taking money off alcohol companies.boltonboris wrote:I just think it's different. Like I say, Boro are sponsored by a pawnbrokers – shurely that's also profiting from fiscal misery?

If you've not got a penny in the bank, you're not betting
If you've not got a penny in the bank, you can get a payday loan company to put some in there for you at exorbitant rates of interest
They're different

I'm not saying they shouldn't be sponsors, I just think it's an odd distinction morally speaking. Betting companies are invariably an evil bunch of c*nts.

Re: New kit?
I'd say financial companies are pretty much the same, and there's been loads of them sponsoring clubs
For the record I'm not particularly against being sponsored by a betting company, but it's a shame we're sponsored by one with a clipart logo

Re: New kit?
Betting companies are offering a service you either partake or not. Addiction to gambling has taken over from addiction to smoking and alcohol, as these companies are now banned from advertising. Personally I am not fussed what is on the shirt as long as they have paid the going price for it. I do not like the logo on the new shirt therefore, I will not be buying one theat is my prerogative.
I will be annoyed if I get mithered every game asking do I want to spin and win but that is another story!

Re: New kit?
This is certainly a step lower than betting. It's virtual slot machines. Meaning you can lose all your money pulling a machine lever without actually having to leave your house.

I really don't know why people are taking to the moral high ground on this one. It's a perfectly legitimate business. If people are fecking stupid enough to fritter their money away then that's their lookout. I really don't see this bunch advertising on the shirts of a third division football side leading to the children of the otherwise sensible being turfed out onto the street. Furthermore, those that get involved would only find another vehicle to spunk their dough away on anyway even if Spin & Win didn't exist.

That's about the crux of it all, where I do disagree though is in the eyes of youth, it could appear to make It acceptable and we all know the young have to be shielded from anything potentially bad in case it upsets their sensitivities.Bruce Rioja wrote:I really don't know why people are taking to the moral high ground on this one. They will be banning under 21's from funerals soon, too much stress on the poor poppets.

This. If we were sponsored by Walkers, say someone would argue that it is encouraging obesity in kids.Bruce Rioja wrote:I really don't know why people are taking to the moral high ground on this one. Betting firms as you say are legal businesses and whilst it would be nice to not have a corporate sponsor at all, I'm not sure it matters all that much who the sponsor is.
Agree with DSB that the logo does look a bit shit. But then this is football not a fashion parade.

The fuss is that modern curse .. the ability for everyone with a phone & or access to the internet can create a whinge about absolutely anything. The easy loan thing gave people a success (not too bad a thing I felt at the time, tbh) ... those people feel they're on roll.
