I'm reliably informed that only skanks go to the Ladies College.

I assure you I didn't go to the Lady's College.Prufrock wrote:I'm reliably informed that only skanks go to the Ladies College.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

I did a trade show down in Cheltenham a few years back that coincided with their big horse racing do. There were red-faced Irishmen as pissed as you like wandering all around the town centre with supermarket bags stuffed with banknotes!
May the bridges I burn light your way

What strange timing for a trade showBruce Rioja wrote:I did a trade show down in Cheltenham a few years back that coincided with their big horse racing do. There were red-faced Irishmen as pissed as you like wandering all around the town centre with supermarket bags stuffed with banknotes!
In Cheltenham week, there is not a room to be had within 30 miles.
And there are pissed up Irishmen far beyond the Town Centre
For what its worth - Gold Cup day is a highlight of Britain's sporting year - every year

That's very true. We stayed in some country house hotel out through Gloucester. Not sure that horse racing has anything to do with sport though. And I'll be fecked if Celtenhaham's big day out is is the pinnacle of Britain's sporting year.bw@bw wrote:What strange timing for a trade showBruce Rioja wrote:I did a trade show down in Cheltenham a few years back that coincided with their big horse racing do. Good news, everyone! This competition has now been sponsored. Behold the Checkatrade Trophy!
Some poor bugger had to 'say' this:
“We are delighted to have signed up Checkatrade as title sponsor for our revamped competition – the Checkatrade Trophy. With credibility and reputation critical to the success of the Checkatrade brand, we feel there are some strong synergies between us both and look forward to developing them throughout the sponsorship term that could run for a five-year period."

If only Pompey fans had known this. They've organised a 'boycott' of the competition. Bizarrely (or to their credit) this involves purchasing a ticket so the club don't suffer financially but then leaving just after kick off
