The clause isn't active in this league apparently so we are in the clear.

As below I think Spearing is pretty essential this year.

No. And not should we be offering any new player that sort of money.

No doubt league would raise eyebrows during the approval process.

Apparently the Daily Mail says Brighton, Cardiff and LatestCoyleVirusSufferersBlackburn have "enquired" about Jay "Spearo" Spearing. Hopefully Parky and Ken are sticking to their opinion on keeping hold of our best players, and hopefully the stand-in skipper will be happy to stay.

Certain players we’re speaking to, year-long loans from Premiership clubs, those clubs are not quite ready to release them yet. We have just got to sit tight and make sure we get someone who can really improve that starting XI.

Myself, Ken and Lee (Anderson) discussed potential targets right at the very start and, more or less, they are still in play.

I like when you sign a young player on loan when there’s a chance somewhere down the line that you can make it permanent. I think that’s the best scenario.

We are looking at situations like that, we may not get one of them, we might well do, but we’ve still got players in our own squad that haven’t featured yet and who are desperate to get involved.

So is Spearing, he's like a manlet but he's finally found his form again. I'm curious about the defender and striker; certainly two areas that we could do with strengthening, but I am concerned about our lack of width.

And I note that Holdsworth does not appear to be involved in the negotiations or scouting at all. Is he just a shareholder now? I know he stepped back as DoF but he's slinked off into the shadows with no trace.

Suspect he's readying for a legal dispute with Ken. Or perhaps just prepared to let things run their course for the good of the club? Hopefully the latter.

I like Deano but we might be thankful that Ken got his way based on what we've seen so far.
