Re: The Promotion Commotion Transfer Thread 2017
Tommie Hoban: Six foot two centre-back, born & raised in a north London Irish family (mum born over there, dad born over here to Irish parents). Has represented the RoI at U17, U19 & U21 level. Joined Arsenal at 7, released 14, had eight choices but picked Watford, and has been there nearly a decade. Made his league debut May 2011, aged 17, in a Championship dead-rubber at relegated Preston; he the 12th Hornets youth product Malky Mackay had picked that season.TonyDomingos wrote: ↑Thu Jun 08, 2017 9:24 amBits of news on potential loans in today's BN:

Also suggests that Henry won't be signing for us.
In 2011/12, new manager Sean Dyche didn’t pick him once and sent him on loan to Wealdstone. In summer 2012 the Pozzos arrived and hired Gianfranco Zola; after Watford started badly, the Italian threw the 18-year-old in at centre-back and he played well enough to be picked for 18 consecutive league games. An injury in spring 2013 effectively halted his progress for a year as Zola looked elsewhere, lost the Play-Off Final and was sacked the week before Christmas.
New gaffer Giuseppe Sannino (no, me either) picked Hoban seven times toward the end of a midtable 2013/14 campaign, and as he turned from teenager to twentysomething during Watford’s 2014/15 promotion season Hoban was selected by all four managers, totting up 27 league games – mostly at centre-back but also at left-back on eight occasions.
Since promotion he’s only played for Watford once, losing to Gillingham for a second-string League Cup side. Didn’t play a senior game at all in 2015/16; went on a season loan to Blackburn for 2016/17, picked for a 10-game stretch in autumn and half a dozen more in spring but was troubled by a dislocated shoulder. Although he's under contract to Watford until 2019, he turned 23 in January and needs to kick on with a successful injury-free Championship loan. Other mooted destinations include Sheffield United and QPR, the latter perhaps more likely by proximity to his home – the Blackburn move was arranged and completed within 24 hours, whereas this time he'll have the luxury of choice.
Re: The Promotion Commotion Transfer Thread 2017
Right decision not to sign Henry I think, although it frustrates me we didn't see more from him. Can't see him as a Parky player, occasional flashes of talent but nowhere consistent or hard working enough. Hoped for more when he signed but we've been burned by his type too many times now.

Re: The Promotion Commotion Transfer Thread 2017
Nothing against Henry and that winner v Scunny was psychologically vital to both teams. But considering he didn't exactly immolate the third division, and we're looking to improve, it'd be weird to get him back. Thanks, and next...LeverEnd wrote: ↑Fri Jun 09, 2017 2:29 amRight decision not to sign Henry I think, although it frustrates me we didn't see more from him. ...which might, might, be Sameobi. Marc Iles reports Bolton "are keen to bring Ameobi back", the Geordie "is understood to favour a move back to Bolton" but "a deal is by no means certain as the gap between what Ameobi has earned in the last few seasons at Newcastle in the Championship and Premier League is way beyond what Wanderers are able to afford." So "talks have begun to reach a compromise but the Whites are also keeping their options open, with 'several' players currently sounded out."
Same piece also says "talks are ongoing" with Morais and Dervite; "contact has also been made" with Spearing, but "progress will be limited for at least another fortnight" because the Scouser's turned into Phileas Fogg; and, excitingly, Parky "has ear-marked another two strikers to add to his ranks next season".

BWFCSA were reporting yesterday of another imminent re-signing - turns out it was Dervite.
Today they say this...

We believe that the club are in advanced talks with 4 players who could all be announced in the next week. #bwfc good work @OfficialBWFC
Ken must be feeding them info to spite the Supporters Trust!

Ameobi and a loan deal for the City kid presuming he's more Wilshere than Weiss, Miyachi, Kakuta etc would be exciting business

Today's BN rumour is that we're interested in Partick Thistle defender Liam Lindsay.

Iles notes that Breacker has watched him but also that it depends on us coming out of embargo, which has been "soon" for a year. IIRC Lindsay was one of the (many) names he mentioned. Still depends on Ken putting the go in embargo.Harry Genshaw wrote: ↑Sun Jun 11, 2017 1:54 pm[vimeo][/vimeo]How did our resident Scots expert miss this one?!TonyDomingos wrote: ↑Sat Jun 10, 2017 9:08 amToday's BN rumour is that we're interested in Partick Thistle defender Liam Lindsay.

City fan at work who seems pretty clued up reckons this lads a great player and we'll do well to get him. He's been at the ground for a look around. Got a choice between us, a return to Holland and a Scottish Prem team

Re: The Promotion Commotion Transfer Thread 2017
Iles this morning mentions Ipswich and Leeds as alternatives. Now, one of those is a f*cking madhouse – which might be managed by lovely old Nando Hierro, watched by us through our fingers - and the other is decades away, albeit with a good track record of promoting youth (and anyway it's not like he's scared of travelling is it?). If I were MCFC I'd rather he came to us – closer, easier to track professionally and personally, probably happier to have him and thus likelier to play him - but we'll see.Harry Genshaw wrote: ↑Wed Jun 14, 2017 10:55 amCity fan at work who seems pretty clued up reckons this lads a great player and we'll do well to get him. Re: The Promotion Commotion Transfer Thread 2017
Iles reports that Ameobi is also interesting QPR and Forest. Notes that those clubs would almost certainly offer closer to his previous wage, but that we would offer a better chance of first-team football – apparently Sammy hates the "impact sub" tag - plus of course some familiar faces and plenty of loving support, which IMO is important to the big fella. I'm not saying he'll sign, and if he gets offered double elsewhere I couldn't blame him – as David Lee Roth said, "Money can't buy you happiness, but it can buy you a yacht big enough to pull up right alongside it."Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Fri Jun 09, 2017 10:50 amMarc Iles reports Bolton "are keen to bring Ameobi back", the Geordie "is understood to favour a move back to Bolton" but "a deal is by no means certain as the gap between what Ameobi has earned in the last few seasons at Newcastle in the Championship and Premier League is way beyond what Wanderers are able to afford." A few reports saying that Bersant Celina from City is set to sign on loan for Ipswich. Looked like he was headed our way for a while.

This is a strange one, it was nailed on that he was coming to BWFC and we were the favourites - he was also quoted only a day or so ago in an interview after the weekend Norway V Kosovo U21 game, that he will probably choose Bolton.kagni wrote: ↑Fri Jun 16, 2017 1:03 pmA few reports saying that Bersant Celina from City is set to sign on loan for Ipswich. Something must have gone on behind the scenes at BWFC, why on earth would he select Ipswich when he lives in the North West. The absolute silence from the club this week with no contract, transfer, accounts or embargo news is slightly worrying - as the club returns for pre season training in a couple of weeks with hardly enough players to pick a first X1

Re: The Promotion Commotion Transfer Thread 2017
Probably the embargo. We are limited to a salary cap of £10K a week per player, which may not have been enough to pay him the % of his wages required by City. Also we cannot pay loan fees. Ipswich probably are.Peter Thompson wrote: ↑Fri Jun 16, 2017 1:36 pmThis is a strange one, it was nailed on that he was coming to BWFC and we were the favourites - he was also quoted only a day or so ago in an interview after the weekend Norway V Kosovo U21 game, that he will probably choose Bolton.kagni wrote: ↑Fri Jun 16, 2017 1:03 pmA few reports saying that Bersant Celina from City is set to sign on loan for Ipswich. Bottom line remains, the embargo has become more than a major hurdle and minor embarrassment. The inability to shift it will cost us dear. We've probably missed out already on the majority of our top targets as deals are being done behind the scenes constantly.
Ken has been short on updates on this, which is poor.

Iles (for those of you who care) tweeted that he was "hearing this morning the club backed off" – the club being us, not City. Looks like he's working up a piece on it; he also says "From what I gather - they [BWFC] thought there was better out there".

They (BWFC) aren't going to say "yeah gutted he was ace, but Ken can't sort the embargo out so we couldn't sign him" though are they?Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Fri Jun 16, 2017 2:16 pmIles (for those of you who care) tweeted that he was "hearing this morning the club backed off" – the club being us, not City. I think Anderson's can work the market well, but we are too limited with the embargo seemingly here to stay.
