Here's the teamlist from last year's season opener VS my preferred teamlist this year.
Ironically, the three ones that are the same at the back are the ones that I'm most worried about.
Italics are better players, Bold the same

--------------------Howard----------------
Darby--Dervite---Wheater---Beevers--Taylor
---------Vela---------Culen--------Karacan------
-------------Madine---------Alf-----------

========VS==========

--------------------Alnwick----------------
Olkowski----Wheater-----Beevers----Taylor
-------------Lowe----------Murphy-----------
-----Ameobi--------Vela-------Wildschut------
------------------Magennis---------------------

BENCHES: 2017----VS--------2018

Darth Vader----------=--------Mark Little
Aaron Wilbraham-----<------Clayton Donaldson, ALF
Will Buckley----------=-------Will Buckley
Ben Alnwick--------->---------Lee Camp
Derik Osede---------<-------- Oztumer
Adam Armstrong-----<------Craig Noone
Reece Burke---------<--------Hobbs, Wilson
You're saying Magennis is better than Madine?

West Brom have gone and got a young fast centreback on loan.

Now why can't we find a deal like this? He lives in Manchester presumably.

Tosin Adarabioyo 20-years-old 6ft6in played 4 times for the senior team

Do we need 20 year old lads with no experience?

He might be brilliant, but I suspect the amount of defending we'll do this season dictates having players who know what they are doing.

I'm not sure Alnwick is good enough at his best. I'd hoped Turner was close enough to challenge but clearly those in the know view him as miles off. Still think a good keeper is a priority.

Whoever we sign as GK will be back up.

I quite like Alnwick. Probably not quite as commanding as you'd ideally like, but there we are.

Should have gone after Joe Hart. Could do a job. Only $4m off to Burnley. Topsy turvey world innit?

Blackburn are after Adam Armstrong. Apparently he was a lot better for them last year.
21 games for 9 goals whereas 20 games for 1 here.
Is that just the gap between the leagues or did we not use him proper?
He's a hell of a League One striker 29 goals in 61 appearances.

Nowtcastle want $3m. Hope they get it.

Seems like Twitter is in agreement that we've signed 3 players we don't yet know about. Apparently the calculation comes from adding up the various emojis from mini Anderson. We must be nearly done for the summer then...

I'm not saying there are actually 3 done deals, just marvelling that people manage to get so excited over the lad posting emojis. Hopefully there really are deals getting done behind the scenes.

Camp was Rotherham's player of the year a couple of years back. If we get that Camp on the cheap, then it's a good deal. If we get the other one, then it's an issue. That's where we are with money, though. If Parky thinks the lad an still do it, then I won't cry over it.

Most of the "confirmed" interest (as in media confirmed) seems to be in older players who have been iffy recently. I'm still hoping we get someone exciting in.

Can't decide if this means we got desperate, or had a bit of spare cash. Either we missed a target and want another go in January, or we saved a bit of wage getting someone else in and we could afford an extra body. Not sure how I'd feel if I were one of the kids and it was the latter, but can't do any harm until January.

O'Neil's announcement article says we've bid for two strikers as well, with negotiations ongoing. Iles confirming one is definitely Joe Garner. Pick your rumour on the other, anyone from Connor Wickham to Billy Sharp.

All good names. I'd be happy with Garner. Preston fan mate who loves him.

Don't understand O'Neil if Henry is there.

O'Neil is a year younger. They're both 35, but Henry's birthday is at the start of the season and O'Neil's at the end. O'Neil also arguably covers more positions, as he can play as a deep and advanced mid. Parky said in the announcement, "We felt Gary would give us a bit of cover in the midfield positions." My assumption is that that's his main advantage over other geriatric options.
