That is a stunning signing. Could well be the best player in the league. Wow.

Maddison: What a signing for us. Evatt now has the tools. Hope he (Evatt) is as good as he believes because the Board has backed him in this market. Its the Hope that kills. I now have hope that maybe we can get into the playoffs this season.

Maddison
Word's "massive", mate'As soon as I heard Bolton Wanderers were interested in me they immediately became my number one choice. Bolton are a big club and are in a position they shouldn’t be. I am going to do my best to help them get back to where they belong. As a winger, goals and assists are a huge part of my game and I’m really looking forward to playing for the club.

Very good signing Maddison, absolute quality player - I just wish it had been permanent & not on loan.
He can score goals from long range & takes a great free kick as well, so our set pieces should improve - saying that they couldn't get any worse.

I said that Lee would be the best player in the league (if he’s 100% fit). Lee / Sarce / Maddison is some prospect! Looking forward to this - it’s a shop window move by him I guess; he could still fancy a crack at the championship next season. But Evatt will be trying to sell the club. Just wish we were there to watch...truewhite15 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 01, 2021 8:15 pmThat is a stunning signing. Could well be the best player in the league. Wow.

I have major reservations about Maddison's attitude and the effect he might have on the dressing room but his talent certainly isn't in question.
Exciting.

I think the fact it's only a loan signing despite him being out of contract at the end of the season would pretty much confirm that.

Keeping his options open and so are we, but it's worth noting he could easily have signed a short-erm contract. The loan may be because Charlton are happy to pay some of his wages, or because we couldn't match them under the salary cap.nicholaldo wrote: ↑Mon Feb 01, 2021 8:30 pmofficer_dibble wrote: ↑Mon Feb 01, 2021 8:26 pmI said that Lee would be the best player in the league (if he’s 100% fit). Anyway, switching back for a moment - interesting piece on Dapo Afolayan - thought I recognised the name - he scored against Donny in the Cup recently

More than that, though - sounds like a strong character, he's made some bold career decisions in his time

Couple of things
• Even ignoring Crellin and White we now have six loan signings (Jensen, John, Jackson, Maddison, Elbo, Dapo) and we're only allowed five in the matchday squad. Might be LB
• I make it we now have 25 overage players but that includes White (who we're trying to send back), plus Liam Edwards (contracted till summer 2022 but permainjured). Also option to deregister Mascoll or Hickman, perhaps

Michael Bailey, who covers Norwich for The Athletic, says Regan Riley went for a six-figure fee. Not bad for a schoolboy. Think there are clauses too.

Useful MJ Williams guide from a Blackpool fan on TrottersBlog. He may look like the sort of bloke you find in the smoking shed outside the pub, but he's apparently "a fighter" who's "tall, competitive and can pick a pass. When he tackles someone, they generally stay tackled... He can play it long or short and will add bite to a midfield. He's got a decent shot on him as well... He's not all bite, he has more than a bit of creativity about him as well though, especially if he's got a bit of time on the ball."

The writing is on the wall after today. It's all heading for us playing Tranmere in the play off final.

Ha, they’ve beaten us 5-1 on aggregate and I’m not even going to mention the obvious memory that would bring most out in cold sweats. Nugent is a cracking signing for them. I’m not betting Crawford will set the world alight but he must like playing for Keith, and he did pick up a few assists - he doesn’t fit into Evatts system now so it’s a good move all round.
Re: Making HMS YouKnowWhat ship-shape: Winter 20/21 transfer thread
That whole Crawford thing is a bit of a sorry state of affairs. Signed in what seemed to be the person to build a team around he never delivered and looked wanting under Evatt. Maybe a work rate thing, somewhat of an expensive luxury?officer_dibble wrote: ↑Mon Feb 01, 2021 10:50 pmHa, they’ve beaten us 5-1 on aggregate and I’m not even going to mention the obvious memory that would bring most out in cold sweats. Either way the interviews for Crawford seemed like he was re-signing because he didn't want to uplift his family. After the last season we had it's hardly surprising if he's not all there mentally to give 100% per game. Tranmere's probably a good move for him tbf.
