Opening day
Always raises the giddy meter a tad when the new seasons fixtures are out, particularly when it's a new division. Ideal scenario - no restrictions re covid/attendance. Who do you fancy and why?

Re: Opening day
Will be out Thursday morning, Brucie.
As said any really, although AFC Wimbledon away would be nice. Last game I went to before it all kicked off. Would be a nice way to tie a close the chapter on this whole year and a bit.

Home game would be nice, so we can have a little promotion party before the new season. Imagine if we could get somewhere near 20,000 as well.

I would like a home game. Introduce the manager, thank the old players, welcome the new ones.

Sounds right. With Wimbledon away (at their new ground) the following Saturday.

I know what you mean, but feels like a banana skin. Losing that would be a massive downer.

Re: Opening day
Understand completely, but I'm not personally worried about the mental strength of this squad anymore. We could lose any game, but Wigan are having to have a rebuild after a poor season and I think we'd be favourites. We'd sell a load of tickets, get away fans in (assuming all that is allowed) and it'd just be great. I have missed live games and I want a proper derby.TonyDomingos wrote: ↑Tue Jun 22, 2021 11:11 pmI know what you mean, but feels like a banana skin. Losing that would be a massive downer.
I'd also take Sheff Wednesday. They're in a right state and we might as well test them early.

Re: Opening day
Was just going to post exactly this. In all likelihood their players will hardly know each other. Has to be the best time to play them, I'd have thought.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Tue Jun 22, 2021 11:29 pm

If we are at home you don’t want Wigan. First home game and Wigan are both money earners. Don’t want to miss out on the cash.

Re: Opening day
I'd like to avoid Ipswich, Portsmouth and Charlton away. 3 long journeys against sides I'd expect to be really strong.
If no limits, then home or away v Wednesday or Sunderland home would be immense.
I'm prepared for Crewe or Shrewsbury away

I just want to watch us smash Wigan whilst catching Covid. All other considerations are secondary.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Wed Jun 23, 2021 7:56 amIf we are at home you don’t want Wigan. First home game and Wigan are both money earners. Don’t want to miss out on the cash.

Don't Wigan get 50% back for leaving at half-time?
