Has it been used yet? We've only played away since launch, methinks...

Did we not have commentary and prework on the one at Salford? I assumed we'd use their feed for the match, but have our own commentary and prematch stuff.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Mon Jul 24, 2023 8:42 pmHas it been used yet? We've only played away since launch, methinks...

I wasn't aware of this. I'm fairly confident that other than internal tests we've not had a match broadcast via this streaming service. Fingers crossed it comes good.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Mon Jul 24, 2023 8:44 pmDid we not have commentary and prework on the one at Salford? I'm at the Toughsheeeeeet tomorrow so its moot point but i'll no doubt try and see how the stream is on the replay service.

Oh, I'm not saying it did work like that. It's what I was expecting from the new set-up. From what Worthy said I am now assuming people watched it via the Salford website or something.Mar wrote: ↑Mon Jul 24, 2023 10:02 pmI wasn't aware of this. I know we're supposed to be getting a fancy, full TV style experience for that one, but I thought I'd ask what the previous broadcasts were like. Who is commentating? How's the video quality? Is it better than iPlayer?
Derek is a good commentator, if perhaps a little biased towards us – always convinced a goal's imminent. Also has his linguistic tropes, as commentators do - "took a sore one," header as a verb, that sort of thing - but he's knowledgeable and on top of his game. I just hope they can hook him up with monitors/replays, as he was always forced to commentate "blind" - which leads to dislocation of sound and vision, always a potential drawback of dual-purpose commentary for radio (which needs more description) and TV (which doesn't).
His sidekicks, however, were hopeless, adding nothing of interest bar poor mic technique, poor takes and an asotnshing lack of analysis. When Vic Wakeling was hiring for Sky Sports he told co-comms like Andy Gray to "tell me the things I couldn't know unless I was a pro". Lately this sage advice has been dispensed in favour of stating the obvious and blatant cheerleading. I was often reminded of Chris Morris's The Day Today response to correspondent Peter O'Hanrahahanrahan – "Peter, you've added nothing" - and I genuinely preferred the games when Derek commentated on his own. Whether this will improve with "former players" remains to be seen.

Anyone worked out if it has pictures on WTV or just commentary?
Edit: looks like it has...wasn't clear when I looked earlier

Baxter. Erm, that rule was brought in many a year ago.

Cracking half of football that.
Rico needs to make an error so all the scouts feck off.
Better performance from the one at the weekend.

Decent first half , Charles should score at the pre lemon stage. Nevertheless a good competitive encounter. Finished first half very strong.
People haven't got a good word for you, but i have T**T.

Just noticed Andy Lonergan's on the bench for them!

Superb performance considering the level of the opposition. If I'm looking for negatives, it feels like similar problems to last season, poor crosses and profligate in front of goal. I think we still need at least one more WB a DM and probably yet another Striker.

Very good performance against a strong Prem side. Baxter impressive. Iredale solid. Adeboyejo strong. Williams threatening, and produced a moment of magic at one point that had the crowd on its feet. Santos has been imperious. Utterly dominant. Made Maupay look like a League Two striker.

They've all done well so far.
Really entertaining. Adeboyejo and Charles giving their defenders no peace at all.
Iredale looking like Iredale, which is a relief after his injury. Strong, fast and just a very good player.
With Santos, Adeboyejo, Morley, Iredale, Cogley etc...we look much bigger and quicker than in previous seasons.
There's nobody on that pitch that I have any concerns about in League One. If I had to pick on out as the weakest in the first 45 it'd be Jones and he's still a solid player at our level.
Re: Pre-season 2023-24
Jones! Wasn't expecting that. We must see the game very differently, nothing wrong with that of course. Personally thought he was excellent.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Tue Jul 25, 2023 8:42 pmThey've all done well so far.

Yeah if anything, Ade's been a bit hot and cold.
Vic's done OK and put a lovely cushioned header onto Dion's laces. Oh and that turn by Williams. Some nice stuff...
