I doubt we're paying £100k per home match, now, for this trophy (lower stewarding requirements, half a stadium shut etc. etc.), car parking largely "online." and I think Garty's comments were about the UEFA comp at the time. I also haven't factored in any ticket sales outside of the final.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Tue Sep 26, 2023 3:28 pmYes in revenue…not in profit though. Your cost for opening up the ground each game is high…I believe Gartside said was 100K at least…..probably more not with inflation…..Worthy4England wrote: ↑Tue Sep 26, 2023 1:54 pmFor me the big "fly in the ointment" isn't League position v PJT, it's dosh. I reckon we trousered over £1m by winning it last season. Cash for winning each round was >250,000 (in total - not per round! ) and you pocket 45% of the ticket revenue...and then there's a mysterious amount of TV money to add on....
That might give an incentive to make sure we win the game...
I'm not sure at what stage you get to break-even or better, but one thing is certain, going out in the group stage after 2 home matches (if it's £100k per match) and you're probably making a loss...

Yeah, the path to glory is strewn with cowpats. Early rounds are met with derision; if you make the knockouts there's always the chance your reserve keeper gift-wraps a goal to the oppo; and if you dare stray as far as the semi-final, the resident doom-mongers will insist for a month that the fans will rise in violent insurrection, decapitate Kachunga and defenestrate Evatt. Or something.
Still, Wembley was a memory I'll never lose. And it's moments like those that we fight for. Tonight the fight won't be taken by our best striker and midfielder, but there's folks with points to prove. Matheson, whose moment of glory against United must now seem so long ago. Nlundulu, who has left behind the cosseted academy life and must prove himself a man. Bodvarsson, who must show that the only career he's ever known isn't yet over.
It's a cold world, is football. Ask Lloyd Isgrove, 30 and unemployed. You have to generate your own heat. Start a fire. Seize any chance you get.

Editing the fanzine was great fun, and I miss it still (though not the lack of pay, long hours, financial uncertainty, standing in the rain and fielding hooky £20 notes from Scousers)truewhite15 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 26, 2023 3:57 pmYou should go into writing, mate.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Tue Sep 26, 2023 3:55 pmYeah, the path to glory is strewn with cowpats. It’s a strong team…another outing for tired Randell.

Ridiculous. Why aren’t we playing some younger lads tonight?
Absolutely stupid.

Too many risks being taken there, for me.

I would have started Matheson.
What's happened to Ashworth? His injury must be worse than expected to be not in the squad at all.

Amazed he hasn't started Mattheson and rested Williams. If you can't trust your best B team lads for fixtures like this, when can you?

Worrying risk.
Intriguingly that lineup could play 4-2-3-1… but I wouldn’t guess it will.

These kids are there to be pressed, but unfortunately Dad Bod is not the man for that job.

If we’re three or more up at half time I’d like to see some changes.
