Lovely goal by Charles. Well worked. That pulls us (as it stands) level with Oxford and 3 points behind Portsmouth who (as it stands) are losing 1-0. We've got a game in hand too. Keep it like this and that top spot looks reachable.
Great sliding tackle by Toaly.

I know it wouldn't have counted, but that's a really decent save from Baxter after the whistle.
Its Reading 2-0 Portsmouth. Surprising given they haven't won in the league since Sept 16th (against us ironically).

Thomason could've made a goal. Decent build up again, either side of the keeper and it'd be 3-0.
Barnsley equalised but are now 2-1 down, so that's a plus. Portsmouth reducing the deficit, now 2-1.

Three or four wouldn't have flattered us. Yet, I'm happy it's 2-0 and not 2-1 as they probably had best of last 10 minutes. Hoping after HT, we can grab a third, because for most part, Charlton have been pretty average, so far.

We really are brilliant! Unbelievable football for 35mins then Charlton came back in to it. It's frustrating that we can be so good yet I still feel we're going to go to pot any minute and God forbid we concede a goal and start panicking. The most impressive part of this is Charlton are actually a really good team, and they're playing well too, they just couldn't handle us, for now at least. If only Thomasson could shoot, what a player.

We're equalling the number of shots that Charlton have had. So it doesn't look like there's been that much in it shooting wise. What I would say is that we look a lot better in the build up.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Sat Oct 28, 2023 3:56 pmThree or four wouldn't have flattered us. I'm hoping the fact we're against Charlton and our usual hoodoo against Charlton is gonna help turn this into decent second half for us.
In other news, Portsmouth have levelled at Reading. Urgh.

Big second half coming up.

Any chance of a clean sheet...
Last one was away at Port Vale.

It's started already, we can't string two passes together.
Re: An Athletic sprint down the Valley: V Charlton away 28th Oct. 3-0'clock.
Definitely matching the pattern of the last two games. I don't think its as bad however. 2-0 advantage at HT is a good habit, the tempo change and increase in adventurous-ness from the opposition is a bad habit we could do with kicking out of the game.
Maybe we just need to work on finding a way to dominate the start of the second half and kill off any hope they have.

We don’t need to dominate we just need to not look so abjectly out of control of the game.Mar wrote: ↑Sat Oct 28, 2023 4:17 pmDefinitely matching the pattern of the last two games. Kin ell Charles. Fecking smash it in.

Today looks to have resolved that issue. Certainly seems like we're performing better and look threatening this half.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sat Oct 28, 2023 4:18 pmWe don’t need to dominate we just need to not look so abjectly out of control of the game.Mar wrote: ↑Sat Oct 28, 2023 4:17 pmDefinitely matching the pattern of the last two games. Charles should've made it three nil. Lovely link up play between him and Vic.

Looks like they've got the habit of winning.
Interesting period coming up next month and a half:
Oxford v Portsmouth (18th Nov)
Oxford v Bolton (28th Nov)
Portsmouth v Bolton (9th Dec)
Hopefully that Oxford v Portsmouth match will unsettle one of those for when we play them.
It's that time for subs again. Gonna be interesting how Evatt plays it given Charles' displeasure last match.
Rash challenge on Charles. Red worthy? Completely off the ball tackle into him? Strange no card of it.
