The gap between the Aug squad and the Jan additions was quite significant. Edit: I note he didn't manage 2.1 ppg for what was left, either...Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Sat Sep 14, 2024 12:37 pmHeh! Well, no. But we know he's capable of getting his squad on runs. It's just that this one might have to be his greatest run yet - thankfully he's got the best squad he's had yet. Up to him, we'll see.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Sat Sep 14, 2024 12:49 pmThe gap between the Aug squad and the Jan additions was quite significant. Ref kills the game off with that penalty. Didn't think it warranted a penalty, but hey ho.
After that, some terrible defending, looking at you Toal and Baxter.
We're in the drop zone. Fkin brilliant.

Not sure if it's been mentioned elsewhere, but our summer target, Joel Randall, has been dropped by Peterborough for the foreseeable future.

I've stated elsewhere I think he's a top player, but didn't know about the attitude problem. Maybe best left, and his wages would probably be a "no"TonyDomingos wrote: ↑Sun Sep 29, 2024 12:08 pmNot sure if it's been mentioned elsewhere, but our summer target, Joel Randall, has been dropped by Peterborough for the foreseeable future.

I think it might be wise to wait for the whole story to come out on this one, if it ever does.TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Sun Sep 29, 2024 12:18 pmI've stated elsewhere I think he's a top player, but didn't know about the attitude problem. Maybe best left, and his wages would probably be a "no"

What are you thinking the whole story could be?GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Sun Sep 29, 2024 1:14 pmI think it might be wise to wait for the whole story to come out on this one, if it ever does.TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Sun Sep 29, 2024 12:18 pmI've stated elsewhere I think he's a top player, but didn't know about the attitude problem. It appears, to me at least, that the player and his agent may have used our interest to get a new contract and an increased wage. Their chairman, never short of an opinion will no doubt say more in time.

I imagine that's certainly the case, but I can't see it being the reason for the falling out.

As I understand it the player has some legitimate complaints and has continued to train and make himself available regardless.
It's hard to fake enthusiasm when you feel you've been tricked into a signing a contract.

Yes, though I was expecting a few more Bernard Manning "That's what my wife said" jokes before we got to the "It's enough money" part.

How do you get tricked into signing a contract? Did someone cover the top bit and say "Can I have your autograph, please, Mister?"

It's fairly common for players to be promised things about the wider club, or their role in a side, that wouldn't appear in a contract.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Sun Sep 29, 2024 10:14 pmHow do you get tricked into signing a contract? In fact, it's fairly common generally. People take a job after being told there's a career path and it turns out there isn't one. Or they're told their department is getting investment that was never happening.
In other jobs you can just leave if you feel you've been misled. In football it's not so simple, because the club owns your registration.

Yeah. Sorta what I was thinking. Many jobs bullshit at interview. Tricky when they have you on 12-18 months notice period...or like you say 3 year contracts. Last one for me, we both agreed to be "grown up," when I mentioned "constructive" and "misrepresentation"GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Mon Sep 30, 2024 10:12 amIt's fairly common for players to be promised things about the wider club, or their role in a side, that wouldn't appear in a contract.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Sun Sep 29, 2024 10:14 pmHow do you get tricked into signing a contract?
