Hughes is actually the bookies favourite at the moment, reports indicate he "wants a quick return to the premiership".

Also, Coyle has ruled himself out.

ANYBODY BUT................

(IN ORDER OF NOT WANTING THEM)

1. Paul Jewell.
2. Ian Dowie.
3. Kevin Keegan.
3. Greame Souness.
4. Peter Reid.

Whilst I don't know if Hughes will come, I think there are very good reasons for him to come. He won't get another shot at big club until he has re-proven himself in the premiership. We have a good young squad and some money. If he saves us and gets us top ten again over three years he can write his own cheque again. It's a bit like Anelka; he was good for us and we were good for him.

But please please please not Paul Jewell; he's just a fat scouse Megson.

lol. Must be Jewell though, surely?. I can't see Gartside sacking the manager then beginning a search for a new one. He must have been sounding out possible replacements over the last few weeks. Jewell being there last night was a bit obvious methinks.

"Paul, sit next to David Moyes so it won't look too obvious."

"Ok, good thinking Phil."

Jewell to be in charge before the end of the week for me.

Jewell has rapidly come in to become the bookies favourite. REALLY REALLY don't want him, he was appalling at Derby.

We must do everything we can to get Hughes.

If Hughes doesn't fancy it then we should go for Curbishley but I doubt he would fancy moving up north.

Coyle won't come if he turned down Celtic in the summer.

Definitley do not want Reid (hes not done anything of note for 10 years) or Souness or Sven.

Of the outsiders Dave Jones is the most appealing. Isn't Hierro doing his coaching badges now?? That would be a good one & would certainly be able to attract the talent.

Just seen Sammy Lee is 50/1 Christ Almightly!

McAteer at at 66/1 or Jay-Jay Okocha at 100/1 would be interesting but would almost certainly result in relegation!

Paulo Sousa would also be superb. Has a terrific style that he uses, and I reckon he'd take it.

really is nothing in that article to get giddy about

hughes emerged as the favourite as soon as the news broke about megson and has since drifted

couple of ex-players say hughes would be a good choice, as has pretty much everyone

it'll be someone like jewell or irvine

happy new year

would be an interesting one. certainly more charisma than the likes of jewell but no idea how his teams play football and has relatively small experience.
