We should break the bank for Owen Coyle...
Not convinced meself.
me neither -Burnleys much-vaunted fantastic first season, fortress turf moor and world-class manager have netted them a grand 2 pts more than our entirely crap and rubbish season with the worst manager in the world and having played two games more than us.......

No he isn't - Mark Huighes, someone foreign, or new bloke out!thebish wrote:Barnet's on the fence!fatshaft wrote:Agreed, tremendous piece there. Well I'd hold onto your seats folks. Jewell's odds are coming in faster than a hungry Mario Jardel into the McDonalds drive thru!
What I can't work out is if this is simply because he was "at the Reebok" last night or not. Surely he wouldn't be there as the "next manager" before Megson had gone, even City flew in Mancini after!
However, you do wonder if some bookies have heard something as some seem to have pulled the market. Though I remember this happened several times last time and without knowing a lot about how bookies work I'm probably talking bollocks!

They stopped odds on Megson earlier this month before re-opening them again, the only time they had it right was with Less - but thats cos big mouth went on TV with his "better things come in smaller packages".BWFC_Insane wrote:Well I'd hold onto your seats folks. Jewell or Zenga?Worthy4England wrote:Not the first time this rumour has surfaced.
Sounds a little too far from a "Gartside pick" for me.
I presume you mean Zenga. His agent has been floating this around for ages before Megson was sacked. Its nonsense. More chance of Hiddink than Zenga. IMHO of course.

Zenga I could see Jewell being in the mix...but it better be after Garty has tried Hughes and Curbishly first.BWFC_Insane wrote:Jewell or Zenga?Worthy4England wrote:Not the first time this rumour has surfaced.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Christ on a Bike .... just seen on another thread that the guy's thrown Tony Adam's hat into the ring now.bobo the clown wrote:Wait a cotton-pickin' minute.jay180 wrote:Lol... I'm just going on what I've heard here , I'm not saying he should be appointed by any means. He claims Bassett is looking to get back into football after leaving Leeds a while ago and that he has made it known he is interested in the job. Supposedly he has known Phil well since the late 80s.
I don't know if that would work out.
You join this forum TODAY and in your first 5 or 6 posts have suggested 'Arry Bassett and George Graham as potential managers.
You're Gary Megson aren't you !?!?!?
Determined to finish the job you started. You'll take us down, one way or the other won't you.
Not even Megson was THIS fckg mad !

For the record, let's say I would be disappointed if/when Hughes makes it clear he's not interested, but he's not the only fish in the sea. I certainly think the net should be cast wide, without any intermediaries appointed to choose our man.

Indeed - odds only reflect the weight of betting, not likelihood. If there's a rush to market, odds shorten, increasing the rush to market, etc. Wasn't Benitez almost odds-on to be the next sacked boss earlier this season?officer_dibble wrote:They stopped odds on Megson earlier this month before re-opening them againBWFC_Insane wrote:However, you do wonder if some bookies have heard something as some seem to have pulled the market. When bookies "know" something, they close the book... unless nobody's betting on the man they know about.

Fook me if this article is right then the list we're going from seems to be getting shorter by the minute!
Hughes doesn't want it apparently (well no surprise really). Coyle doesn't want it (well we knew that already).
Jewell was at the game as a guest of Megson so he seems unlikely, though the quote doesn't rule him out like the article would suggest.
Reid obviously wants it but as I have suggested the fact he is mates with Allardyce may make it hard for him to get it.
Christ. Hope that we pull something outta the bag, as I don't think Curbs will come here and I certainly don't want Ferguson!
