Interesting. "The players were not with him. They didn't trust him and the style of football he played was far too simple".senorjoeyo wrote:Ivan Campo gives his verdict on who should manage us, also some words on Megsons departure.

Seems one of the few times when you could say the players and fans were as one.

I think I'd want someone with more of a proven track record at this level - I hope Hughes will consider it.senorjoeyo wrote:Ivan Campo gives his verdict on who should manage us, also some words on Megsons departure.

He won't, he would lose too much money.Montreal Wanderer wrote:I think I'd want someone with more of a proven track record at this level - I hope Hughes will consider it.senorjoeyo wrote:Ivan Campo gives his verdict on who should manage us, also some words on Megsons departure.

By now its obvious we want Coyle. What we don't know is whether Coyle will come now. If not it will more than likely be someone on a more "temporary" basis!
Bit like Rivaldo!! seen the fax?BWFC_Insane wrote:He won't, he would lose too much money.Montreal Wanderer wrote:I think I'd want someone with more of a proven track record at this level - I hope Hughes will consider it.senorjoeyo wrote:Ivan Campo gives his verdict on who should manage us, also some words on Megsons departure.

He'd lose too much money because of his Citeh contract? Over here in a similar position we'd sign a manager for the money we could afford and the other club would pay the remainder for the rest of his contract. Everyone profits that way. Can you not do that in the UK?BWFC_Insane wrote:He won't, he would lose too much money.Montreal Wanderer wrote:I think I'd want someone with more of a proven track record at this level - I hope Hughes will consider it.senorjoeyo wrote:Ivan Campo gives his verdict on who should manage us, also some words on Megsons departure.

Well, Hughes would make the same money and City would be ahead by whatever we pay him. I think we should try for him on those type of terms.Lord Kangana wrote:Yep, I believe Leeds are the classic example of that.

No the majority of managers contracts in football over here are structured so that the team would pay if they sacked him for a pre-determined period of time (by all accounts in this case till the end of Hughes' contract) UNTIL the manager gets another job. So if he was employed by us he'd lose his City money. This has been reported in the press re. Hughes and other managers have been in similar positions in the past!Montreal Wanderer wrote:He'd lose too much money because of his Citeh contract? SSN 'understands' (tends to mean they have a source but not one they are comfortable trusting 100%) we are going to Burnley monday morning, £4million compo package.
On the issue of whether or not he'd come, am I the only one who thinks his interview 'ruling himself out' actually sounds like a manager struggling to do anything BUT rule himself out? We'll see eh, but I think it's certain he's the boards first choice, and hopefully the fans will recognise, whoever we get, unlike last time, we haven't settled for the cheap option.

I'm not convinced he'll cost us £4m. Surely thats an opening gambit from Burnley's chairman? But now the cats out the bag, I'm not sure Coyle's position is tenable, so realistically we shoul get him cheaper. Or if he does cost us that, that its all up front.
Like I said, it appears Gartside has nailed his knackers to the mast on this one, so lets see it through and get him. And then get on with reclaiming our football club.

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.

Hmmm not sure about that;-Hobinho wrote:Actually £1 mill a year presumably 3 year contract + £4 mill comps kinda makes Hughes look like a cheap option!!!
Not sure Coyle is worth all that.
Name Club Annual Salary
Arsene Wenger Arsenal £4.5 million
Sam Allardyce Blackburn £2 million
Gary Megson Bolton £700,000
Guus Hiddink Chelsea £6.14 million
David Moyes Everton £3 million
Phil Brown Hull City £500,000
Rafael Benitez Liverpool £5 million
Mark Hughes Manchester City £3 million
Alex Ferguson Manchester United £3 million
Alan Shearer Newcastle £1 million
Steve Bruce Wigan £1.6 million
Looking at that how about rednose!!!freeindeed wrote:Hmmm not sure about that;-Hobinho wrote:Actually £1 mill a year presumably 3 year contract + £4 mill comps kinda makes Hughes look like a cheap option!!!
