Are there any Bolton fanzines?
I know TW do an occasional issue, but are there any regulars on the scene?

The topic came up for discussion (again) on Saturday. It was hard enough keeping the stuff relevant before the internet and a million message boards. Stories breaking/changing and disappearing between the post and the printers caused nightmares.
You'd have to take a completely different approach if you wanted to start one now but I reckon the market is still there. People still like reading, people still want something to flick through at half-time, on the bus/bog (sometimes the same thing) and a good fanzine would be able to provide reflective comment on the past month's activites.
Good luck whoever takes it on.

I'm not asking you to 'think outside the box' I just wish you'd have a rummage around in it once in a while.

With ours we would put in some of the best articles from the past year or so.
No matter how old some of them were they were still good to read months on, hell, some of them are still a good read now.
I'm not sure when our next one would be, if ever (which is a shame). There are a few reasons as to why not.
The first is money and sponsorship. You either need a bit of money behind you, which we don't have. The second is sponsorship which needs time to sort out, which we don't have.
The main reason behind us not being able to do a fanzine is content. For some reason the amount of articles that are being written for this site has totally dried up, for some people aren't interested in it anymore. Like coffey says, with the internet news is everywhere, so why write about something that has been done ten times over?
Still, that doesn't mean that there isn't anything to write about. We don't just want match previews and reports, we want peoples views about what is going on at the club. e.g. Elmander coming in to form, how are the new guys doing?
People just need to get involved a bit more and it might become more of a reality.

yeah a fanzine shouldn’t be about news or bang up to date current affairs. they should be timeless and full of bullshit imo.
It needs to be fake adverts, stupid jokes and satirical interviews. Fan stories, Witty chants, funny photoshops – basically taking the piss out of ourselves, and other clubs.
I always used to like ‘The Good, The Bad & The Ugly’ which was in Tripe n Trotters iirc? Where fans told their accounts of either a euphoric win at Highbury in the cup, a crushing defeat on a wet Tuesday night in Grimsby or being chased round Wolverhampton dodging flying bricks and driving home with no windows! Never about the actual football, just about their experiences of it. Some of them were hilarious!

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly was in White Love, and was more a reminiscence piece on three matches from any given time (it may have been done by year, but I can't confirm).General Mannerheim wrote:yeah a fanzine shouldn’t be about news or bang up to date current affairs. they should be timeless and full of bullshit imo.

Away Daze was TnT's accounts of fans' experiences on trips. Including some of the greatest words ever written when DSB told us of his motorway services experience on a trip to Charlton.
We (TnT) made sure that the match reports were as far away from reporting on the matches as we could possibly have got, until I took over as editor and overdid it on the picture captions.
I did one of the most heinous things I've ever done, but it was necessary in order to make way for Kebabling 2. I threw away all my old fanzines. There was a tear in my eye. I would have spent all day reading back on some of my work, but Mrs K is back to her hollering best.
