Fair play. They have to earn it. Good way of stopping any charlie large big potatoes behaviour.

Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

(clubcall)
Bolton midfielder Tamir Cohen could feature against York in the FA Cup, while Martin Petrov and Adam Bogdan could also start.

Cohen has been on compassionate leave following the death of his father, former Liverpool star Avi, but the Israeli midfielder has now returned to the Reebok and could feature on Saturday.
Petrov has lost his starting spot to Matt Taylor in recent weeks but he could start against the non-league outfit as boss Owen Coyle plans to rotate his squad after a gruelling festive period.
Goalkeeper Bogdan could also get the nod ahead of first-choice Jussi Jaaskelainen, while strikers Robbie Blake and Ivan Klasnic are also set to be included in the starting line-up ahead of Kevin Davies and Johan Elmander.

York City's FA Cup foes Bolton Wanderers are beatable says manager Gary Mills

no shit sherlock! :D

meanwhile...
Aside from midfielder Andre Boucaud, who is cup-tied, City will have a full squad to choose from with Robbie Weir having survived dropping a ten-pin bowling ball on his ankle during a team bonding session this week.

I am hoping for a lot of goals against the non-league part-timers and my son is really looking forward to only his second match. It will be interesting to see some of the other squad players and although not a full team would still like to think 4 or 5 nil at least?

No, we'll go easy on you, probably just beat you 2-0.

york city beat us 2-0 in t'FA Cup in t'3rd round in 1971.

we beat York City 2-0 in t'FA Cup in t'3rd round in 1951.

we have had 3 FA cup encounters - a 2-0 win each (as above) and a win for us after a replay (again, in the 3rd round - in 1958)

in t'other cup - more recently (1991) - an aggregate 4-3 win to us.

to complete the statitical jigsaw...

in ALL 20 games we have ever played - 10 wins to Bolton - 5 wins to York - 5 Draws... an aggregate score of 30-19 to Bolton!

(Just correcting, before the usual outrage hits this thread ;))

We're a full time professional club, always have been, and were league for 95 percent of our history until two successive dodgy chairman destroyed the club and resulted in us going down and slipping into the BSP.

What was your son's first match out of interest? Should be a good atmosphere, so I'm sure he'll enjoy it.

Ahh Grimsby, those were the days. Didn't we start two seasons in the Championship with away games at Grimsby?
Pfffft.

Yup. Weren't they both 3-3 or something?

So they are due a win against us and we will lose 1-0, statistics can justify and predict any result. Doomed I guess then!
Depression is just a state of mind, supporting Bolton is also a state of mind hence supporting Bolton must be depressing QED

spot on...

we started the 93/94 with an away 0-0 draw at grimsby

and then the following season it was also the opening game - 3-3 away at grimsby

the following season we beat them 6-1 at home...

We beat them 6-1 because we got twatted 5-2 at Southend the week before, and the players wanted to go one better. I remember that much.

The 6-1 was 1996 at home - we'd just been beaten 5-2 by Southend away...Rioch defending football hmmmmmm.

The 0-0 and the 3-3 were 1993/4 and 1994/5 seasons.
