Hi all!

I'm a new member to this site, and intend to visit it much more frequently when the BBC's 606 shuts down in May. I've also just joined http://www.iloveboltonwanderers.net" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; where I intend to blog my views on everything Bolton. The site is small now, but with your input I hope we can make it a big success.

My first entry on that site is about why I believe FA cup semi-finals should remain at Wembley. It would be great if you could read it, and let me know what you think.

I'm with this. Why need to start a blog about it? We already have a site here that's devoted to The Whites, has been going strong for several years, has a large membership and often discuss these things already. There are also other Bolton sites (though not as good as this one), if you're interested and want to discuss Whites topics, why not do it here? Other supporter sites we usually just read for a laugh.

Not a bad first effort, although I dont agree with the F.A cup semi finals being played at Wembley (that said i will be there if we beat Birmingham)

I've been on many a forum previously. I don't know why but I prefer the idea of it being something more my own. I will write more on here when the bbc's 606 goes at the end of the season. I'm still going to keep it going, but may copy paste the articles onto here instead of linking them. Trouble is this time the site already exists and I needed people to read it so the site will sign me up as a proper writer.

The problem with doing something more your own is the lack of editorial oversight or even peer review pre-publication. You just hit the send key and your stream of conciousness hits the web.. I suspect you may not have formal training or experience in which case read on.. [If you are a highly experienced seasoned professional I'm more out of touch than I thought.]

There's nothing quite like the experience of proudly handing a gleaming bright erudite piece to a grizzled inky fingered sub who trims your 2000 words of iridescent prose into 350 that actually do the job you set out too but without the whimsy, poor punctuation, poor grammar and spelling that marks out the self published and annoys the reader.

Submitting pieces here will get you a generally sympathetic response, fair criticism and some practice. Not least in suffering the slings and arrows..
Linking and telling people to read your stuff because you think it is really good, will tend to get you the response you got.. Unless it is really high quality stuff..
