Bolton are waiting for Jussi Jaaskelainen to pen a new deal before they sell Ali Al-Habsi to Aston Villa or Wigan.

Wigan are thought to have failed with at least one bid for the Oman international who impressed while on loan at the DW Stadium last season, but agreeing a fee is not the only problem.
Trotters boss Owen Coyle would sanction Al-Habsi's move to Wigan if Jaaskelainen, who only has one year left to run on his Reebok contract, pens an extension.
Coyle fears he could be just left with Adam Bogdan as his number one keeper this time next year if Al-Habsi joins Wigan and Jaaskelainen then decides to leave on a free transfer.
It is thought that Jaaskelainen is happy to sign but Wanderers will not let Al-Habsi leave until he has done so. Aston Villa also remain interested in the 29-year-old and could pip Wigan to his signature.
Same story in the Bolton News.

Sounds sensible enough to me.
I'm sorry. If Jussi is hoping for a new, extended and, I assume, improved contract & is doing his usual 'hard to get' games he should be the one we sell ... & fecking soon.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

They are probably thinking worth every penny of that now. I'm just saying that I hope we keep AAH, and that Peter Harrison is up to his usual tricks again, mind you he's AAH's agent as well
Peter Morrison is Al Habsi's agent. Although you're not the only person who thought it was Harrison, I was under that impression until Morrison came on twitter.

I wouldn't be too bothered if we sold Jussi and kept AL Habsi. Lately i've found Jussi to be slightly dodgy.

He has been a great servant but no harm in cutting ties.

yes - but it isn't really an option - nobody wants him and he doesn't want to leave....

Not too bothered which is no.1 this season but if Al Habsi is worth 5mil then Jussi is worth peanuts, and there isn't a lot of difference ability wise at the moment, selling Al Habsi is much better for the club.

I have it from a good source that Davo and Jussi pull similar basic wages in the 35K p/w region and they are our top boys.

The 35k does not factor in win bonus/clean sheet bonus ect...

Wouldn't matter he doesn't keep many of these.

Haha, yeah we save money there!

In all honesty, and most accounts seem to say it's true, on those salaries, if we can move those two players and secure Ali - it would tempt. For the production we return from one, and the benefit of having the other between the sticks...

Having said that, I'm not sure it's a given that Ali wants to be here now.

Since most folk on here have doubted Jussi's ability this season, why are we worried about not having him around for the season after next? Make AAH 1st choice and let Jussi see his contract out in the reserves, not withstanding somebody coming in for him.

And Celtic - If you think your man is worth £20 million, you'd better up his wages to reflect that, pretty damn quickly!

Where's the plan for Bogdan in this, too? Sure he won't be happy about going from 2nd to 3rd choice either.

Send Jussi on loan to Wigan for the remainder of his contract then.

Job done.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

I'd rather we spunk £2m on Jussi being a reserve than have to watch him attempt to flap at another spooned shot that finds it's way into the net or cross that he could easily clear.
Pfffft.

Speculation that could impact us.

1) Sturridge moves up the pecking order after Drogba hands in transfer request

2) Man City cool interest in Cahill

3) Newcastle slap $6m tag on Nolan
What could've happened; did.

The Aston Villa news could affect the sale of Al Habsi too.
