See I did it.

Two year deal is worrying. He wants to walk away and get another signing bonus. Bet we're paying plenty.

Was thinking about the 2 year thing too.

It's the same as Petrov and Klasnic were given. It could just be that 27 is too old to get a 3-5 year deal so that was all we offered.

Dunno, just thinking aloud, would like to know why.

Maybe its all Nigel wanted? Coming from a big club to a smalller club promising him ambition, if after 2 years he doesnt feel its fulfiled then he's a free agent again at 29.

Two years is fine by me. We gave Sean Davis a three-year contract and looksee how that turned out. Not to malign poor old Sean but NRC seems a good signing to me; combative, flexible, something to prove. If this signing fails I'd rather it only be for two years; if it succeeds, then that's good news and we'll deal with the contract in 18 months' time - either offer him better terms if we think he deserves it or let him see it out in an easy-come-easy-go way.

Do we know for a fact that there isn't an option to extend in the contract?

We don't know for a fact he's signed :) But there's always an option to extend or improve.

No, we don't, but those options can differ: our decision or mutual?

Generally, the majority of contracts aren't worth the paper they're written on
