I'd agree with you if we were talking about a Premier League game, but players are told, in both training and pre-season friendlies, to err on the side of caution.

The speed pre-season games are played at should further reduce the chances of someone getting injured.

It was probably a rash rush of blood to the head, not even to 'do Chung' but just to win the ball, a bad/mistimed decision or whatever.

Unfortunetly he's not on the park anymore, he's playing with millionaire commodities.

And he is supposed to give a feck why? He was playing football. The fact they are worth lots is of no importance to him.
Put it this way, I'm not sure Newport County were the ones doing us a favour by bringing a first team to play against us...

As a PL club we take a lions share of the money distributed, we do our bit to filter bits and bobs down to teams lower down- in this case I gather because Coyle and their manager are mates. Will Coyle send one of his club's to Newport County again? Judging by the abruptness of his quotes* after the game, I'd be surpirsed.

Although I agree with you, the main importance isn't whether he's playing against Chung Yong Lee or five-a-side with Chunky Lee from two doors down. It'd be why he's making a tackle like that at all in a pre-season game.

For those who want to see the tackle

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8OJoWe8B2cw" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Around 3.34 in the video.

- On minor note, Bolton players were equally as guility getting over-excited into tackles with several players going in very hard. I would suggest that the inexperienced referee losing control was as much to blame as anything else.

News from Korean media:
Early test has confirmed a shinbone fracture. It's obviously still very early to even speculate on his return date, but apparently the procedure was successful.

That challenge could've been made by any player in any league.

Supposedly Miller was 'shaken up' or whatever. Didn't look like it to me.

Trying to find a positive somewhere. How long do breaks/ fractures take these days? 3 or 4 months? It'll be like a new signing over christmas.
The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.

Fairly difficult to tell.

Don't be like an Arsenal fan. Guy's got his leg broke, by someone a number of divisions lower. Even if it was a "bad" tackle, stuff like that can always go on where there's a gulf in class, with little intent on the part of the perpetrator.

The ball gets a little bit away from Chungy, but he covers twice the distance that the defender manages in the same timeframe. The defender commits to the challenge about 5 yards away and then has to adjust. You're talking about a bloke that doesn't think nor react at the same speed as an international footballer.

To me, it just looked like the difference in class that's caused the problem.

I'd agree with this, and in that respect, the opposition aren't to blame.

So we're looking for someone to blame now?

I reckon its Voldemort's fault for buying CYL. Without him, this would never have happened.

Happy to be of service.

it all depends... a "fracture" and a "break" are the same thing...

the good news would be if it was a hairline fracture... but I would not be expecting him back much before christmas either way...

hopefully I am wrong.

For those interested, the incident is at 3m26secs. Sorry if highlighting the time is slightly tasteless, but I'm sure a few people will want to see the tackle.

That's the source of my confusion.

No official news yet? Clinging onto the hope that some correctly applied Fiery Jack and a couple of asprin will do it.

Confirmed as a double fracture of the lower right leg.

You'll want to sit down for this....... 9 months out at least :(
