We don't know the situation though. He may fancy a crack at a big club but equally be perfectly happy here until his chance comes along.jimbo_bwfc wrote:If we knew it was impossible to sign a replacement in the meantime then yep, otherwise no.BWFC_Insane wrote:jimbo_bwfc wrote:I hope this isn't true.
1- Why would we want Defoe?
2- Just fecking sell him.
Better to keep him now surely?
No point having a player here who wants to leave and is free to do so in 12 months.
There's being stubborn then there's being stupid.
Its up to Coyle to manage that.
I'd suggest if Cahill was a problem we'd be far more willing to do a deal than we seemingly are!

I'd agree with that BWFCI. I still hold hope that he'll sign a 1 year extension.
So we go through all this shite next season, too!

With Gary training with England in Bulgaria how would he go about having a medical at Spurs?

Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
so - this story on SSN that Cahill is off to spurs for £15mill - that's bollox is it?
Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
BTW, I think we should give Cahill some credit for how he's handled himself through all this. Perhaps he was distracted during the 'pool game, but if so I didn't notice, and I'm pleased with how he's kept his head down and his gob shut, unlike so many.

Quite easy really .. There in Hertfordshire at the moment.. Not Bulgaria.
Scott Parker has joined Spurs and Gary could quite easily do the same and do his medical in the England camp if need be.

According to reports Tottenham Hotspur’s cash-plus-players offer for Bolton Wanderers defender Gary Cahill has been turned down.
The Mirror claims Spurs chief Daniel Levy is trying to persuade Wanderers to take David Bentley and Sebastian Bassong plus cash.
However, it is understood that Wanderers are holding out for a cash-only deal.
Wanderers are seeking the full £17 million buy-out figure in Cahill’s contract which expires next summer.
Coyle is not interested in French defender Bassong and would only take Bentley on loan because he has similar players in his squad.

Harry is having trouble offloading Crouch.... if he does wangle some cash for Cahill - it'll be quite late in the day - leaving a replacement more tricky...

According to the usual, we only sell if there is time to replace and apparently it's too late now so highly unlikely to happen!thebish wrote:Harry is having trouble offloading Crouch.... if he does wangle some cash for Cahill - it'll be quite late in the day - leaving a replacement more tricky...

he also says.... "Ngog being done. No Cahill cash offer. Dream target a definite no go. One final stunt failed."BWFC_Insane wrote:According to the usual, we only sell if there is time to replace and apparently it's too late now so highly unlikely to happen!thebish wrote:Harry is having trouble offloading Crouch.... if he does wangle some cash for Cahill - it'll be quite late in the day - leaving a replacement more tricky...

Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
Fine by me. Hopefully Coyle can get him to sign another year or two onto the contract so we can still get our money's worth, and he doesn't end up 'doing an Elmander'.
All we need now is for Boyata to replace Knight toot-sweet.

Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
From BBC
1842: News now of Gary Cahill, but from a Bolton perspective. BBC Sport's Alistair Magowan says: "A very good Bolton source tells me he thinks Gary Cahill is unlikely to leave and that Man City were in talks with him at one stage. That deal fell through because the clubs couldn't agree on players going the other way. Source also believes Arsenal could have bought Cahill for £10m-£12m and that the defender had been left frustrated by whole episode." Interesting. I can't see Harry Redknapp giving up easily tonight, mind.
