They've moved them about 15 miles north. They'll be coming back round again in a couple of years.

Remember hearing Sam had left in the car. I was pretty ambivalent about it considering the impact it had on the club.

Megson-wise, was informed via Sky Sports News. Millie Clode has never looked more appealing than when she announced it.

Definitely the case with the above, think this was more to do with the belief that our entire chance of staying up was dependent on keeping Rioch, McAteer and Stubbs... Rioch leaving resulted in any hopes I had for that season disappearing.

For Big Sam, remember flicking on SSN to get the afternoon headlines, and there it was on the yellow bar, Sam Allardyce has left Bolton. Fed up would be an understatement, was also nervous as to who we would get to replace him. Rightly so it turned out, Sammy bloody Lee. Jesus wept. Still remember Gartside speaking on 5 live on the opening day of the season before the Newcastle game "I believe in Sammy Lee we have a better manager than Sam Allardyce". Aye alright then.

For Megson, I was at work when I got an email from a colleague saying he'd been sacked, checked on BBC before jumping and rejoicing. Looked like a right dipstick, but it was worth it.

I remember coming out of school and hearing that we'd sold Frandsen and Todd had left, that's about it.

Wherever I was, I remember not being that arsed about either Big Sam or Megson, the writing was on the wall for both. Thinking about it, Sammy Lee getting sacked was a bigger surprise than both. I hindsight this sound ridiculous, but I thought we played well enough against Chelsea for him to deserve at least another game.

What about when we drew 0-0 at Filbert Street?

Caused a stir in Leicester it did, going by the headline...

I think it was something like "sometimes big things come in small packages" and it was on Sky News just a few hours after Allardyce left.

But nobody picked up on the comment, not even Sky, and there was still loads of speculation of who would replace Allardyce!

Remember the day Megson was appointed very well. Was working in Dyce, Aberdeen, right near the airport. There'd been speculation for a few days it was gonna be him but I wouldn't believe it. Then it came on the radio... Gutted wasn't the word

Allardyce going was the day after that Chelsea game. There was speculation before the game but his appearance seemed to end that. Woke up the day after (living in halls) and went into my neighbour (fellow boltonian)'s room and had a very subdued, weird afternoon. Learnt about Megson's appointment having a shmoke down the side of the Mortimer Arms on Tottenham Court Road on the phone to my dad. Not devastated, just, meh. Learnt he'd gone the night after the Hull game. Learnt about OC watching SSN when it was still freeview with the same clip of OC at Burnley in shorts in the snow.
