Re: Bolton vs Chelsea
I'm sure he didn't even slip. Was just a shit penalty. He saw he'd fecked it up so fell over. But yeah. Guaranteed handball not given, and at least two ludicrous dives for freekicks form them lot, and that's only if Drogba doesn't play! John Terry rule is similar to the Bobby Zamora (long ball forward, catches it on his forearms, then drops it to the floor, play on) rule.

Depends on how strong his knee is. If there is any indication at all his knee isn't fully right then fook that, coz we'll get bummed wither way. If his knee is fine and he just needs game time, then hell yeah. Might at least give the crowd something to cheer for for a bit.

he did play the full 90 against Villa, didn't he - or did I dream that?Prufrock wrote:Depends on how strong his knee is. Re: Bolton vs Chelsea
I think so, but those games are deemed far less intensive. I assume there are still doubts on his fitness otherwise I can't see why he wasn't on the bench against Arsenal. Whether they are core fitness issues, or wear and tear of the knee I don't know. If he is only fit to be used sparingly at the moment, I'd much rather save him for Wigan, even on their pitch!

Re: Bolton vs Chelsea
I seem to recall the manager echoing that very sentiment
Re: Bolton vs Chelsea
Would make sense. Just pointing out if there are other issues I'd rather him saved for the not going to necessarily get dicked games.
Otherwise, get him in!

Run out as sub if we're not being batterd. We're on a hiding to nothing in this game, its not worth him risking niggly injuries by rushing his comeback. Its far more important to give him the chance to be fully fit for a longer run of ultimately more winnable games.

Re: Bolton vs Chelsea
I think Pru has a point with regards to leaving him for Wigan.
Firstly, we're on a hiding to nothing in the Chelsea game.
Secondly, If he were to make his comeback in the league in a derby, that could give everybody a massive lift. Fans AND players.. Plus it's arguably a bigger match. 3500 behind the goals at the DW all celebrating a Holden winner?? Yes please!!

Re: Bolton vs Chelsea
I can see the benefit either way...
you could certainly argue that a run-out against chelsea would add to his match fitness - thus making him more effective for the game against Wiggin... (unless he got crocked, of course!)

Re: Bolton vs Chelsea
There are two weeks between Chelsea and Wigan games. If he doesn't play against Chelsea, then he'd need a run out before Wigan. Might as well give him that against Chelsea than in the reserves. That is of course if he's fit!

Re: Bolton vs Chelsea
are there more points on offer for Wigan AWAY than Chelsea HOME?
fckin defeatism
if he's fit he plays - full stop.
you get match sharpness (not the same as fitness btw) by playing meaningful matches and a 75-85% Holden is better than owt else we have available.

peckers up, everyone...
Paul Robinson says that the weekend disappointment at the Emirates Stadium will spur the team on even more when they take to the field against Chelsea.

Re: Bolton vs Chelsea
At Arsenal, nobody attempted more tackles than Robbo, nobody made more interceptions and nobody made more blocks
Conclusion? Play nobody (weary smile)

Re: Bolton vs Chelsea
Ahh, but does attempting more tackles equal any level of success?
I mean, I attempt more goals in my head whilst watching the Wanderers....
