Re: Wanderers Quiz Questions
Found this from last March, I think with a minimum of ten premier league goals. Pretty impressive for Sturridge and Klasnic!

Henry! That's flipping amazing! To produce that form over so many games!Prufrock wrote:Found this from last March, I think with a minimum of ten premier league goals. Pretty impressive for Sturridge and Klasnic!

and - just totting up... that'd be two Bolton players in that list and (errrr....) one Arsenal!
Re: Wanderers Quiz Questions
The answer (in the Times at least) was indeedy Mr. Ivan Klasnic, with Hernandez second. The article did qualify it by saying the players had to make more than one match appearance to be ranked. I've thrown the paper away now but I think it said it was a goal every 17 minutes of play (but surely that can't be right: maybe I missed a hundred out somewhere!!!)The Axman wrote:Wow! just discovered this (fairly) interesting question in The Times FinkTank section from a few weeks back.
Q) which current player has the highest goals to playing time record in the Premiership?

Much easier with 2 kidneys...Gooner Girl wrote:Henry! That's flipping amazing! To produce that form over so many games!Prufrock wrote:Found this from last March, I think with a minimum of ten premier league goals. Pretty impressive for Sturridge and Klasnic!
Re: Wanderers Quiz Questions
If its minutes per goal per kidney, I think Klasnic must win.

Andy Slack! I remember his name but dont recall ever seeing a picture. Also remember a reserve keeper around the same time called Jan Nowacki or some such.Bruce Rioja wrote:Young keeper was a lad called Andy Slack.
It was Sutton Coldfield Town, not Solihull (I always mix the two up), was the third Emley?
Still stuck on the Everton player. Brian Borrows?
As for the non league team - Emley was an away tie at Huddersfield. At Burnden we played Gretna, Sutton Coldfield and 1 other non league team. Clue - Philliskirk scored the winner with a header at the back post.
Spot on with Bugsy Burrows by the way.
One from the 70's - Who made his debut on the opening day of the 1977-78 season on the opening day at Burnley then never played for us again?

Re: Wanderers Quiz Questions
Andy Slack was in the youth team following the one with Ian Holbrook. So could be either .... tho Ian had other attributes !!
We beat Burnley 1-0, bless 'em. The goal was scored by Roy Greaves. Andy Clements played full back in his one & only full appearance for us. He went to Bristol City & taking an ex of mine with him, later onto Canada, b'stard. She was gorgeous.
*** latest edition ; Jan Nowaki wasn't a keeper, he was a winger come midfielder who, despite his name, came from Bury. Never quite broke through.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

I can see Philliskirk scoring that goal. It was late on and was a real let-off. Could have sworn it was Gretna. I stabbed at Borrows because I remember us selling him for £80k, I really didn't know we signed him from Everton (David Burke was my next guess).Harry Genshaw wrote:Andy Slack! Andy Slack was third choice keeper behind Siddall and a young David Felgate.
Just looked up the Burnley game. I remember the guy, he had a look of Brian Smith with streaks, but would never have got it in a thousand years.
