Reserves v United
Had a trip down to Leyland last night to watch the reserves,
team:
Lynch, Kellett, Alonso, McQuade, Connolly, Pratley, O'Halloran, Blakeman, Tuncay, Blake, Petrov.
Lost the game 2-1 to a better side. The "young trotters" were the pick of the bunch for me with Kellett a left footed player at right back catching the eye. A similar type of player to Joe Riley and even younger !! Alonso had a decent game the "first teamers" in Blake, Pratley Tuncay and Petrov will have to perform an awful lot better if they are pushing to get in the first team - even taking into consideration how the team is playing at the moment. Pratley was virtually anonymous in midfield, Blake spent a lot of time moaning at players who failed to get on the end of his "passes" or moaning at players who didn't pass to him, Tuncay was little threat up front and Petrov, despite scoring an excellent goal with a curling shot from the edge of the area, also created little.
Interesting Riley and Lainton were sat in the stands watching the game on a very chilly night, not good I would have thought if they both have muscle or hamstring injuries. Both walked with no limp !! Also watching were 2 of the younger players, one I think being Vella and another possibly Tope both on crutches, with the latter having his leg in a supporting brace.
There were a number of scouts there - you can always tell them by their coats and the fact that they leave the stand just before half time to get across to the main building for their free cups of tea !!
Always enjoy watching the reserves, in fact probably more than watching the first team at the moment even if the result is the same!!!

Rivi.. I've never limped when I've had muscle pulls. It's not that kind of injury. You tend to feel them in sprints and striking the ball as apposed to when walking

Agreed. A hamstring or achilles tendon strain won't necessarily make you limp. It's when you put them under tension by extending them through running or impact that you get the pain.

Thanks for the medical info, I still think it's not good to be sat around on cold hard seats on a cold night when you have that sort of injury. But as Coyle was there as well he must have been aware of the players watching. That said Riley didn't reappear in the stands for the second half, perhaps he pulled a muscle laughing at the antics of Blake and the lack of skill from Pratley !!

I'm not sure a chilly evening in Leyland quite counts Boris
