As well as the above (wasn't Laville great!) a modern-day Gerry Taggart, that's what we need. Sadly that's not Zat the chat. One Hump Or Two? wrote:As Mike Tyson once said, the ironing is delicious.
If I could think of one player who typifies the demise of the "hard to beat" Bolton, it would be him. We were hard to beat when we had rock hard bastards at centre half like Faye, Bruno, pre-injury Laville and even the likes of Meite and Jadhi. Now we have a big soft donkey called Gladys.
The way this interview is phrased, though, makes me wonder if it isn't a subtle dig at Coyle. Can't imagine Gladys was any too happy about being "protected" by those notable tackling machines, Mavies and Pratley.

Mike Whitlow with his aeroplane arms, that's what we need.

D'you think Gudni could be tempted out of retirement? Surely being a lawyer in Iceland must be piss-boring.

just to say, with a sigh, since the onslaught of negativity is, understandably, pretty volcanic... that I don't think Zat Knight is a sub-standard pile of steaming ordure... he isn't great, but he is brave, works hard and will give it for the cause... and he hasn't managed to get sent off once in every four starts (which is a feckin big plus!)...
In any case, once Cahill goes he's the best we have...

He really isn't.William the White wrote:just to say, with a sigh, since the onslaught of negativity is, understandably, pretty volcanic... that I don't think Zat Knight is a sub-standard pile of steaming ordure... he isn't great, but he is brave, works hard and will give it for the cause... and he hasn't managed to get sent off once in every four starts (which is a feckin big plus!)...

He's one of the softest lumps I've seen. For a big man he rarely dominates a striker, in fact I'd go so far as to say he never does.
Wins very very few headers, and wants to look like a classy defender rather than someone who will put their head in when it hurts.
And even once Cahill departs he very definitely isn't the best we have.....
Re: Fighting talk from Zat Knight
when Cahill was out with the blood-clot thing - did not Knight partner Ricketts to very great effect?BWFC_Insane wrote: And even once Cahill departs he very definitely isn't the best we have.....

He wasn't the best in that partnership though either, was he?

It's true that the Knight-Ricketts combo was very good. Maybe Cahill is the problem, now he's on 4 weeks notice is he going to be risking injury?boltonboris wrote:He wasn't the best in that partnership though either, was he?
I feel sorry for Robbo, I think he's being hung out to dry by the others. I still like him and a couple of seasons back I had him down as our player of the year. Now I think there's a big problem with the back 4. A sort of I'm all right Jack'/work to rule attitude.
I don't know. It's a mess. Just wish they wouldn't constantly bang this 'I've had a kick up the arse and now I'm ready' drum.
Gets a bit tiresome after a while.
Face facts. We've gone.
I'm not asking you to 'think outside the box' I just wish you'd have a rummage around in it once in a while.

Or maybe, they're all just overly reliant on Cahill. When GC ain't there, they might start taking a bit of responsibility

if a partnership works - it doesn't matter who is the "best" in it....boltonboris wrote:He wasn't the best in that partnership though either, was he?

Who knows Zat Knight might concentrate for more than 5 minutes at a time....boltonboris wrote:Or maybe, they're all just overly reliant on Cahill. When GC ain't there, they might start taking a bit of responsibility
