Wow. I've just seen that we extended Blakes contract this Summer by one year. I assumed he signed on a two year deal. Why the feck wasn't he released at the end of last season? Astonishing decision.

7. Klasnic 31 - out

11. Alonso 20 - probably loads better than whoever is LB for our reserves
12. Knight 31 - out
13. Robbo 32 - out
Assuming we need to manage all this debt, possibly from the Championship, most of those players are too expensive to offer new contracts to. It's a shame we won't be getting any money from transfer fees unless we sell in Jan. Each player costs up to £2M per year so we can't be sentimental or increase wages.

After seeing highlights of Fulham game Knight should leave ASAP. If we're keeping Coyle some of these players aren't playing for him and some he doesn't rate. Out of these 13, sell Cahill, then there are at least 7 that we should get off our playing staff wagebill, for me.

Players like Knight, Robbo, Steinsson, Petrov and, I think, Klasnic seem to have some kind of problem between them and the manager so it's pointless keeping them on. If we lose one of Steinsson or Jussi we almost have to get rid of the other one too.
The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.

Those two lists have proved a real eye-opener for me... and if you look at it from a certain point of view, it looks like the chairman & owner are playing a very cynical game. Hear me out...

Eddie can't/doesn't want to service the £110 million debt ongoing. So he says to Phil, 'this isn't sustainable. Get shut of all the 'big time charlies' who are 30 or over. Keep the rest & bring some younger, cheaper Championship players (Eagles, Mears, Pratley etc) in. Sell the one(s) you can get anything for. Q. Which stooge can we get to preside over the transition? A. The ex-player who'll get more time & slack from the fans. He takes us down, which coincides with the end of his contract. We get shot of him, appoint a cheaper, young manager & pocket the parachute money whilst gambling on the afore-mentioned younger squad to get us back up. After all, the spine of the side has played in promoted sides before.'

Clever old kettle switcher!

The major flaw being that when we go down financially we are fooked.

This myth that going down is a magic reset button is just that a myth...

We used to budget for 17th.

I'd bet the ranch that we're now running a top-6 Championship budget. Which, in a strange kind of way, is to avoid betting the ranch yet again.

We are not. Our wage bill is around 13th highest in the premiership.

We haven't signed NRC, NGog, Petrov, Tuncay and the likes on championship wages.

We rid ourselves at the same time of Taylor and Elmander, both amongst our very highest earners. We will be losing the other top echelons at the end of the season.

I bet this is the lowest wage budget to turnover budget we've sustained since about 2003.

The parachute payments have gone up.

The goalposts have shifted.

And we'll have renegotiated Gardner's deal.

Theres not a Bob Hope that any of our new signings are on more than either Elmander and Taylor were, or Gardner, or Jussi and Davo. Who will go at the end of this season.

Wake up.

Not having that the whole plan is to go down and become a championship club. I can believe that due to the impending rules and the financial losses each year that they had to reduce the wage bill. I suspect we haven't reduced it at all...but that's another story...

Nixon is talking about us having an 'overhaul' in January...whatever that means....where will the money for that come from? Cahill presumably. Whatever plan we are working to, going down was certainly not part of it, and with the players we have available we should be nowhere near where we are currently...

I suspect that there is just no driving energy left at the Bok. Whatever way you slice it Eddie Davies will lose most of his money, when we go down, if not all of it.

I suspect he regrets giving Allardyce the money to sign Diouf and Anelka etc...probably
still would have stayed up for a while and not been in so much debt, once you are playing the premiership roulette wheel there is no going back without a big chunk of money gone!

You are such hard work

The plan is to reduce the deficit.

Thats it.

Explain to me how many teams have managed to do that upon going down?

It doesn't happen....it might just might if you manage to come straight back up and don't have a massive drop in gate receipts and other revenue, but how likely is that?

We are not even going to recoup much through sales a a large section of the squad is out of contract.

We're not going to recoup anything from them. What we will have is a much, much lower level of outgoings.

As for Eddie Davies regretting Anelka. Seriously? Is that why you're find it difficult to grasp these simple mathematics?
