To be honest for every great success there were more abject failures.

But they were binned off, eventually, & are footnotes in history.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

I wish we could have a centre back that plays like Big Sam. It would certainly be an improvement on Gladys Knight. In fact even the Big Sam of today could probably give Gladys a run for his money.

If you're going to play a very traditional back four, it's good to have one big hard bastard to win everything in the air and the 50-50s on the edge of the box when the boots are flying; and one silky smooth ball-playing Hansen type to anticipate, mop up and restart the attack. In the late 70s Allardyce and Paul Jones represented that combo perfectly. Which was one of the reasons we were pretty tasty for a bit.

Get thi tinters off, Lad. He were fecking shite. Do you know that Allardyce and Bruce came for the same trial and Allardyce got picked. I think it appropriate that Allardyce likened Jaidi to himself - they were both fecking shit. The last game I saw Allardyce play for us was a 3-0 home defeat against Darlington!!!!!

Ha, people calling Jaidi shit. He clearly wasn't. The 2 seasons he was in the team were our two best Premiership season in terms of defensive record. Funny, that.

Yeah ... that's like judging SKD's contribution to the Whites on the basis the last game he played for us this season, at the fag end of his career.

Prime Allardyce was a defensive colossus. Lad.

Was it a rumour or true that he was one of the highest paid players in the French league when we signed him..?

That was Sebastien Puygrenier. Who, from what I saw, was vastly underrated in the 6 months he was with us.
