Good grief, that's hard to read & not cry.
I must assume (for the sake of my sanity if nothing else) that the times he went off within half an hour he'd picked up a knock). Shirley someone in the club knows this ... even if OC is too dogmatic to recognise it.
I have to stop or I'll be moving in with BWFC-i

Well, Muamba wasn't injured on Saturday
I know that cos the fella sat behind Coyle in the dugout confirmed that he was as dumbfounded as us at the naivety of his boss

Well, that's good to hear. At least that shows someone in some level of authority and with some access to his ear can see it.CAPSLOCK wrote:Well, Muamba wasn't injured on Saturday

I’ve looked into this (you tapped into my inner statto) and it’s not quite as cut and dry as you might think.
In fact, before this season, Coyle has never lost points by substituting Muamba. Newcastle and Norwich are the two stand out occasions, and are still quite fresh in the mind.
It might hint that he’s more important to the current system than he might have been in a 4-4-2, though.
The overall points swing (bearing in mind he’s been substituted 37 times under Coyle and more than anyone else) is actually +5.
The overall goals swing during that time is 12-26 (-14) – i.e. after falling into a losing position, we’ve often gone on to get a heavier beating.
Interesting, eh?

Re: stop subbin' muamba
That's not to say i would always disagree entirely with him being subbed for attacking purposes i.e. chasing a game, but it has to be at the right time and with the right re-shuffle.

Re: stop subbin' muamba
People are getting confused that this is about Muamba per se.
Its not.
Its that in the premiership whatever system you play you need a ball winner, preferably a mobile athletic one.
Muamba is a ball winner. As is Holden. Last season when Muamba was subbed or left out, Holden could compensate to an extent.
Now Muamba is the only true ball winner we have. Therefore when he's not in the side or is taken off we're wide open.
Really is that simple.

Dunno. NRC can win the ball, but does little with it. Holden can do both.BWFC_Insane wrote:People are getting confused that this is about Muamba per se.

Don't get me wrong Holden is more than a ballwinner. But IIRC he at one point last season was the top tackler in the premiership...Bruce Rioja wrote:Dunno. Muamba wasn't far off either.
NRC is more of a "water carrier" for me, yes he wins the ball back but he's a real up and downer, covers every blade type. Against Norwich both he and Davies were caught up the pitch, too high, when Muamba went off.
Muamba and Holden are players that IMO harrass the opposition, press them, and can win it back.
When we have neither in the side we struggle. IMO at least...

Re: stop subbin' muamba
Coyle's positive way of thinking is to always throw caution to wind if we are losing. We may as well lose 3-0 having a go than 1-0 not trying. (Unlike Megson defending 2-0 when we are losing - Goal difference and all that). Think Blackpool last season at home when 2-0 down and he went for it.
My problem is he sometimes throws caution to the wind when we are drawing. A draw is better than a loss and sometimes he 'goes for it' a little bit more often than he should.

Fabrice: if you're reading this, please pin those statistics to Coyle's office door.

Re: stop subbin' muamba
The thing with "going for it" is it makes the assumption that in a game of attack v defence at two ends our attack will outscore the oppositions(like what Brazil used to do) The flaw in this idea is that we are not brazil and most teams have better attackers and defenders than us and in an open game will cane us. Nothing wrong with throwing the dice late on if we're getting beat and show no sign of getting back in the game but stupid in most other scenarios

Muamba HAS read this by the way. Keveh sent him the link on Twitter. He then followed Keveh back after seeing it.
"I've got the ball now. It's a bit worn, but I've got it"
Re: stop subbin' muamba
Fabrice, if you're reading this fella, we at TW think you should play the full 90. We win games when you play and we have the stats to back it up
Pfffft.
