Should standing areas be re-introduced?
Hi guys,
I'm from Southend-on-sea and love my football, especially the premier league and need a bit of help from the loyal supporters out there, forums are where the best fans are!
I go to university and am in my 3rd year and i'm doing my dissertation on the re-introduction of standing areas around the premier league and would really like some responses from the premier league's best fans and see what you think? It will only take about 3 or 4 mins and would help a great deal!
Thanks a lot it really is appreciated!

Done it Phil, but only cos I have a house in Hockley and have been to Roots Hall a number of times.
. Course Roots Hall has a 12000 ish capacity. Couldn't see standing being reintroduced at, for instance, Emirates. Good luck with your dissertation

Grand kids went to Greensward. My house is on Broadlands Rd almost opposite. Having it done up so soon as we'll be moving there. London's a bit grim now. Use the Bull a lot and Wetherspoons. Nice place to live.

Re: Should standing areas be re-introduced?
How many people are doing dissertations on football these days? Does nobody base it on anything else?! Bet it's sending the non-football markers potty!
In answer to the question, absolutely YES bring back standing. I purposely have my season ticket in the East Lower near the screen (i.e. "charlie corner") just so I can stand up. Will do your survey now.

I hate sitting at a game, when your formative years are on the paddock sitting at the reebok is a cold overpriced substitute even if it is premier league. The only good thing about seating is that I never lose my glasses when we score.

We HAVE standing at Premiership matches. It's called "the away end".
Only they aren't SAFE standing areas as some numpty has bolted rows of seats in there.
All joking aside THAT would be worth studying in a disertation. They look for originality ... to make you stand out ... be different.

to be fair they are as clean (I can only refer to the ESL Gents) as many a pub loo these days.Gooner Girl wrote:thats because, i would guess, mens loo's are stinky and discusting.thebish wrote:there are standing areas in the men's bogs I believe.... it seems women don't want them...
Comparison with the old Burnden Paddock would be pointless. They are, quite rightly, legendary.

Re: Should standing areas be re-introduced?
Personal preference I suppose, but after spending years standing on Burnden Embankment with some big fella with a brolly stood in front of you, getting pushed about and having to fight World War III to get to the toilets, covered seats at the Reebok with a perfect view of the game win hands down every time for me.
Si Deus pro nobis, quis contra nos?

Stop being so sexist GG. It's not the ruddy 1970s anymore.
Anyway this piece here says that Villa are hoping to bring back standing areas within the next few years.

Re: Should standing areas be re-introduced?
I remember my first visit to Wembley when we played Bristol City, being stood in a river of piss on the terrace behind the goal. It was that much hassle for people to get through everyone to reach one of two egress points that people were just having a lash in situ.thebish wrote:

Even worse Pru. Dalston, though my neighbours like to call it Stoke Newington. They get mighty pissed when I remind them it's still Hackney. Mrs GD is responsible. Does Jewish catering, and no that isn't borrow six eggs to make an omelette, so we are close to massive sources of bookings. Hoping the Hockley gaff is ready for summer then we can move.Prufrock wrote:Whereabouts Gravedigger? Not Finsbury Park :O?
