It is unimagineable that he would be anywhere other than ITU. I would try not to read too much into the differences between stable / critical etc but I think we may get a better idea when the hospital make a statement.

Was thinking that myself - i know nothing about Boltons nearby hospitals so correct me if needed, but surely the fact that Bolton were playing in London with some of the best hospitals in the world nearby should hopefully prove a huge plus?

Plenty of great cardiac care up here too. To be honest I think the specialism and knowledge isn't so critical at this stage where it's just about keeping him alive. Later on is when the quality of care will be more vital (and we can only hope it gets that far).

It's a National Health Service, GG: experts everywhere. Father-in-law was a heart surgeon, used to be based in London; moved to Yorkshire, worked 40 years for the NHS (30 in Yorkshire), then went into training. Man, I'd love his opinion now. Sadly, not an option: he died in a London hospital, awaiting an operation on his heart.

Sorry, I meant at home as in the house. Every football stadium has top medical staff available, as well as Defribrilators, which are basically the difference between life and death when a heart attack occurs. Pray to god we wake up to positive news in the morning.

Sounds like no more news this evening. I really think that this is about as good as anyone could hope for. It seems he had CPR for at least 10 minutes and it was always going to be a primary cardiac problem. So his being on ITU in the 'heart attack centre' in a 'critical condition' is pretty much what I would expect. He has made it through the first 4 hours and that is good.

I'm not saying he is out of the woods - far from it I'm afraid both in the short and long term - but it could definitely be a whole lot worse than this.

The care at The Chest is at a level beyond that available in Bolton but places in Manchester could almost certainly provide the same level of care. The Chest is, however, somewhat closer to White Hart Lane than The Reebok is to Manchester (traffic-permitting).

I'm sure the Chest is a fine hospital, but the Royal Bolton Hospital,with a reputable cardiology department and intensive care unit, is ten minutes from the Reebok. I'd like to think if I ever had heart problems I wouldn't have to travel to Manchester or London. All immaterial though, I'm sure Fab will et the best treatment wherever he is.
